JHi Superfool,
Not shelved, just waiting for the opportunity. It's a complicated project and capacity is a big issue. I'm going to see if there is space for an Urban.

Please put a torx head on each side of the pivot screw!

May I ask why? Putting a Torx head on both sides involves custom machining a new pivot sleeve which seems like a lot of work for little to no payoff.

I wasn't trying to challenge you, I was honestly curious. Is there something that having a Torx head on both side would bring to the table that I'm missing? I have a Delica with custom sleeves and Torx screws on both sides. It's much more finicky to fine tune the centering and tension than it is on my Spyderco's with a single Torx and sleeve.

I have a feeling this might mean that you already have the steel sheets inhouse - or can they be supplied at such short notice that they are available 'just in time' when a production slot becomes available?

I for one, can’t wait hear more about the Urban. It’s become one of my favorite designs.

The spinning Urban pivot is a problem for some. The D shaped holes in the scales wears round and then you’re stymied.

100% this.
I am trying to change scales and the blade hinge one is stuck. I am going to have to destroy the scales, or drill it. Anyone got any better advice?

How about using a Dremel slitting wheel to cut a notch into the pivot pin, then using a screwdriver to keep it from spinning while you extract the screw?

That is a good idea - I was hoping not to damage the pins, more than the scales. I have no idea where I would get new pins from, and the scales are being replaced with titanium.

Glad this project is simply waiting its turn!
I’m very fond of the final material decisions, effort put forth by forum members, and just overall feeling of community that Superfool’s threads brought forward when creating the concept!
It’s super neat! :D

I see what you did there...super neat.
I am also very pleased with this project, and if they are priced reasonably I think they will sell really well. It was nice to see the users of this forum bring these threads come together, to a final project.
I am very excited about it, and hopefully will get a chance to do it again soon.

Ahhh, gotcha. That makes total sense. I like Spyderco’s with steel liners in particular, and have very few without liners, so I I didn’t think of that. I could definitely see that being an issue in a linerless knife.
I wonder if the Micarta (rather than FRN) construction would help with that.
Personally, I’d love to see liners on the knife. I think the carbon fiber UKPK has liners, not sure about any of the Urbans that have been released.

Hi Michael,
The steel is custom made and we don't want to order and sit on steel unless we have a date planned.

Time aside, coming at this fresh it is just awesome to see the power of the people here working together and Sal's willingness to make it happen.
Also, as a UK soul I'd be keen to get my grubby mitts on one.
