In case anyone's curious....





EDIT: Knife has PB washers. Not shown in pic.

EDIT #2: I replicated the pic that I took last night and the washer was actually on the knife. It didn't show due to the glare from the task lighting overhead. I reshot the pic from a different angle so the washer now shows.

Well, that didn't take long.

Not sure I like the lack of washers on this particular knife.

Interesting, the liners are not the same as my CF Chaparral.
They are a bit more minimal, especially around the internal stop pin.

I'm probably one of the few who'd have preferred full liners on this one. Sure, they'd have added a bit more weight, but they'd have made finding someone to make replacement scales a whole lot easier.

I put the original CF Chaparral on the kitchen scale and it only weighed 2 3/8 oz without the clip. This is pretty light.

I got one yesterday. Love it, but good grief I forgot how hard the back lock is to operate on the Chaparral. It just seems like they should have moved the part that you depress to the rear of the knife another 1/4". That way the spot where you depress the lock is not so close to the lock-bar pivot. I sold my CF Chap due to the lock being so annoyingly hard to depress. It doesn't help that the lock-bar is super thin too which digs into your thumb.

It's great and it's thin but I'm spoiled by my Native 5 G10 model. The back lock on that knife is a dream to use.

Totally agree. I was thinking it would be an FRN slab just like the CF was. I would have preferred that. :)

I have no idea either. I looked at it briefly when I had the knife apart. It wasn't obvious what it was for so I moved on to the task at hand.

Same here, but common sense says you don't spend time and cause wear on machinery without a good reason. And, since it doesn't appear to serve and purpose on the finished product, I suspect it serves some function during the blade manufacturing process. Perhaps as an indexing point, perhaps something else.

EDITED: I'm going to amend that. Seems that hole is where the stop pin goes on the Chaparrals with full liners, so perhaps now they will all have both holes so that the maker doesn't have to keep two otherwise identical blades in inventory.

In that 2nd picture, if you place the liner on top and in place, does that depict this knife using the stop-pin? I'd be disappointed to learn the FRN version does not use a stop pin.

See the first pic. The liner is in place and is used as a stop for the pin.

It seems the guys that do the review vid's like this knife a lot. Very little negatives.
Also, one guy compared the handle thickness to a carbon fiber handled one and found the FRN version is even thinner than the CF.
I thought my CF one was pretty thin. Super! :)
