I have been using Convoy C8 and C2 for more than 2 years. The body is completely aluminum. Waterproof. High-quality drivers and LED diodes. I highly recommend it!

I use a Coast Plasteel model but I need a more powerful model. Any suggestions? It needs to have a polymer housing and easy to replace bulb and batteries and be under 30 dollars.

I saw a large Mag Lite for sale. The handle casing is 15 inches long and it takes D-Cell batteries. Is that a good flash light to have?

Important question: Are these three different Mag Lites or are they the same light, and, if different what are the main differences?

Both have aluminum bodies and both say they use 4 D battery cells but one says Xenon.

Explain, please.

One is powered by some LED and the other has a Xenon bulb. Completely different technologies of light source etc

Thank you that is what I wanted to know. Why do you think the xenon one is 35 and the other goes for 75?

My guess would be the xenon is some old stock though can't be sure, I don't follow Maglite since quite a bit.
Also can't compare specs as they are nowhere to be found on their page

Was going to buy a Petzl headlamp, but changed my mind and bought a OLIGHT Warrior 3S 2300 Lumens Rechargeable Tactical Flashlight. My mom will have it near her recliner.

The two lil flashlights that we have are garbage. If this is a good light I'll buy a second one for myself.

Hi, I love Petzl headlamps, HOWEVER, beware..

They have a very fast strobe effect which is not noticeable under normal function i.e. when it appears to be a continuous white light.

This can be extremely dangerous when working on moving parts, lathe, engines, wind generator etc as this will make the High speed moving object to be stationary!!!

Ok, folks, I'm upgrading my hurricane-prep flashlight collection and the options are endless, so I thought I'd ask the forum for advice. I'm satisfied with my lanterns so don't need any; I don't own a headlamp but I want one; I'd like one absolutely reliable, durable, 1000ish-lumen handheld; and several smaller handhelds.

Some requirements:
-- to be used in the event of up to 1 month power failure: around the house, in the yard, in the vehicles, around the neighborhood, hopefully not for evacuation but that possibility always exists
-- all need to be waterproof, submersible in saltwater to a few feet for a few minutes
-- all need to use AA or CR123 size batteries, non-rechargeable for sure, but rechargeable also if possible
-- no charging ports
-- throw is nice but not important
-- on/off and low/high brightness modes are the only switches I need or want. More features are okay unless they interfere with the unit's reliability or require me to update software
-- weight and size aren't important
-- I don't need colors. I don't have a feel for white vs warm; maybe the group has opinions?
-- I don't mind if the one "higher-quality" light and the headlamp are pricey, but I'd like the smaller ones to be inexpensive.

I read you message a month ago and I've been thinking. That could be dangerous if I forget that fact and open the hood of a car to work on it.

What brand headlamp does not strobe? I think I'll buy 2 very good headlamps.

EDIT: I see that petzl headlamp's offer continuous or strobe lighting... I'll buy the petzls and be very careful.

Streamlight guy here. All I use for 10+ years. Stylus pro, microstream, stinger, lanterns, headlamps, weapon lights, etc., etc. You get the point.

I bought 2 - Petzl IKO CORE headlamps.

Why? Because they are the best hybrid headlamps that I could find using both rechargeable and AAA batteries.

I do not find the purchase of a rechargeable only headlamp wise when I do not know when the power is going to go out, and if the power goes out I'd have to invest in battery packs to recharge the rechargeable.

Skilhunt (H04) or Armytek (Wizard C2 magnet, 10m water resist) can use 2xCR123 with driver to 8,4V.
Some Zebralight has driver to 6V, if CR123 ≤3V you can use it.
It about 18650 format headlamps.
And it will be difficult to find AA headlamp with 1000lm. Fenix HM23 will reliable AA headlamp, but there is only 240lm max

Sounds like the Fenix HM61R v2.0 fits your needs, with some caveats. It does have a red light capability (which I personally find very useful) but it basically operates as its own thing so it doesn't complicate the intuitive user interface. It does have a charging port but it uses a magnetic interface so it's sealed from the elements (the light is IP68 rated). It comes with a rechargeable 18650 battery (the smallest capacity battery if you want practically usable 1000+ lumen runtimes) but you can also run it with two CR123A batteries. And yeah, you can use it as either a headlamp, a handheld/clip-on right angle flashlight, or a worklight with a magnetic base.
