REC can sell 700 of their exclusives in 3 minutes. So 70 that they announced to the world isn’t surprising. Congratulations to those that won the prize.

I think I am going to try for the shaman. I have ten Spyderco folders. My goal is to have 9 different models in 10 different steels. I have a pm2 in 10v so I ended up with two pm2’s. I will probably end up with one more I really want the Manix 2 salt. That will be regular production so it should be no problem.

I think I'm done trying for these after REC, did manage to snag one of the new Launch 15s from SMKW while nosing around for 15v though, pretty pleased with that.

Got one off of REC this morning.
Not sure if 15v is going to be a steel that will be in high demand later or will be forgotten.

Just glancing at the alerts thread, seems like all 70 sold out in seconds at REC. Yikes, but congrats to those that managed to get one.

Been thinking about it and as much as I dislike the drip feeding of Sprints so they pop up randomly across dealers over the course of a few weeks, I think it's a better alternative than announcing a specific date and time and dropping them all at once. At least with the former approach, one would get multiple chances, but the latter it's all or nothing in one go.

REC did a great job with this one. I did not need one as I have a PM2 and the Manix 15v, but I could have gotten one easy. I had the CC# and address in there from previous purchases, so it made it easy.

Now if they do a REC Native 5 avocado, that i may have to jump on.

They did an even better release on their Manix 15V. Posted to their REC room on Facebook. "First 5 to replay to this gets a link to buy the knife." It was great that it kept the purchase to their customer base and minimized flippers. Again I could have gotten one but already purchased one before.

How do you know you would have gotten one easy if you didn't buy?

I was refreshing and added it to the cart right when it became available, had profile pre-loaded and went straight through. It wasn't until after I clicked purchase on the cc info screen that it gave me an OOS error, other folks mentioned the same thing in the other thread. Just putting it in your cart doesn't mean anything.

Had it in cart, address in, payment in, just needed to hit enter. Took all of 15 seconds. So, I guess I could have had an OOS error but I am 90% sure it would have went fine as I got to the final check out so easy and fast since my address and CC# was already in.

I did not order (was tempted) as I did not want one bad enough for $200 and I avoid filliping, rather someone who wants one get it.

This eBay seller is asking way too much, I believe $300 will be a fair price for the people that missed the run but not $400

Seems like the Manix might push $400 in the near future. I think REC only had 5 of those to sell, not 75. I almost feel bad using mine but that is what I got it for.

Only way to control the market is to not buy at inflated prices. If you do then you are a part of the problem not part of making things better and or more affordable for all.

The way I look at it is if I can't get it for the right price, the fair price which is what DLT sold for, Knife Center sold for and many others in the $204.00 plus some change range then I do not want it at a suckers price.

There is nothing I need or want that bad that it is worth having a bad feeling about myself for doing so.

I look at it like this to buy at an inflated price fixing price it is just being greedy and I might better examine my out of control possessiveness and attachment present in my character if I do so.

An S30V PM2 or Manix will do everything a 15V will and will not be prone to corrosion so why in the world would I pay an inflated scalper price? I actually have a feeling of disgust for scalpers and opportunistic predators so they are not permitted to get my money.

I vote with my wallet and dealers like Knifecenter and DLT, Blade H.Q. GP Knives, Knifework's are the ones I am pleased to buy from because they do not participate in predatory practices.

Well, I missed a few releases by seconds. Then I had 2 chances and I just couldn't pull the trigger so I let them go. Last night however I think I got one from Indiana Knives. Waiting on shipping notice. I wont be upset however if they say oh we ran out here is a refund.
Edit:
Got a shipping notice.

I've been looking for days, missing out by seconds everywhere. Then, I simply checked my Instagram and a dealer about 30 miles away has them in stock. Blademan's Knife Shop in Fort Wayne, Indiana, has them in store. He said he is letting locals get to them first for a day or so at his shop before he lists them at blademansknifeshop.com. I picked one up. He's a good dealer with nice inventory of all high end knife makers. If you live in the area I'd stop by in the morning and pick one up. He had a few.

How much time elapses from when a dealer receives their initial 5 "samples" to when they get their full allotment? Just curious

I walked into Rec’s store a few days after they released the Manix and was pleasantly surprised they had a few held back so I was able to buy one, so I doubt they only had 5. Went in today around 1pm, an hour after they dropped the PM2, and they told me they didn’t hold any back and they all sold. Oh well, I’ll keep trying to grab one that stays in stock for more than 15 seconds lol.

It's not an exact science, but for reference... The first 15v PM2's hit dealers around Feb 16th. Cutlery Shoppe included. Then CS dropped their full allotment on Feb 28th. You can go through the Alert thread and find more examples of a Dealer dropping once and then again at a later date.

That is awesome, wish I had a dealer like that near me.
