Count me in for another curious about this model. I wasn’t aware of Spyderco when the last models were released and have really been into the Endura4 lately. I’ve also been wanting to try se k390 in the e4 for a while now so I kinda ignored this model. With the thread constantly popping up lately I would jump in and scan through the posts. One thing led to another and I ordered a se C60 last night. Thanks for the posts showing the availability. I’ve been spending most of my free time today browsing through the thread and it’s really made me excited to try this model out. I love Cruwear and as far as I know this is the first time Spyderco has offered cw in a serrated edge and reading the description of the knife angle is similar to holding a pistol and then the back story about the maker and I had to try it out.

Thanks to all involved to make this a reality.

I know some people were a bit concerned about Cru-Wear not being stainless (I was). It has been over 80% humidity the past two days and generally humid every day since I got the knife. My window is open 24-7 and the Ayoob is just sitting on my desk. No signs of patina or rust. I know that’s not the same as carrying the knife in my pocket on a hot and humid day. Just thought I’d share.

Bladeworks and Bladehq still show coming soon. Have they not released any yet or is it all over?

Out of the blue request - could anyone post a comparison pic of the Ayoob with a PM2, Shaman, and/or Manix 2? Thanks!
No Manix. But threw a military in for comparison.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Pstone and mb1! Boy this sure is one large knife (for me). The PM2 looks like a Para 3 compared to the Ayoob when closed. And the handle length exceeds that of the Shaman's. This will be helpful.

It carries small in pocket I find despite the dimensions. I have admittedly small hands too and find it very comfortable to hold and use.

Thank you, that's good to hear. I'm thinking the pronounced bevels on this one might be helping in making it comfortable to handle despite it's relatively larger size compared to the PM2 and Shaman.

Glad you bring that up "p_atrick". Because that is so easy to remedy. The Sentry Solutions company has a product called "Tuf-Cloth". Rubbing that "Tuf-Cloth" on the blade frequently will leave a micro-coating on the blade that will prevent just about any type of corrosion. Unless you are working in extremely harsh environments like Salt Water or other corrosive chemicals are at work. Then you need to clean and protect your blades on a daily basis. The main thing is to just not forget to clean them after using. Also there are other good products on the market to assist in corrosion prevention. I'm sure many of the guys here are aware of other products to help in that area.

Most of the time I'm finding that just keeping the blade really clean is quite adequate for preventing rust and other types of corrosion. It seems that "NEGLECT" is your biggest enemy when dealing with corrosion. So far I haven't noticed any indications that corrosion will be a huge problem with Cruwear blade steel. You truly do not want to throw out "The Baby With The Bath Water" when dealing with the corrosion aspect. Because I'm confident it can be averted by just being studious in your preventive maintenance.

Again Bro I can't thank you enough for making sure that anyone who wants one of these C-60 Ayoob, Cruwear Sprint Runs will have an opportunity to get one. You're doing splendid work Sir!

I hope everyone here on this Forum who wants this iconic and heavily coveted Sprint Run to be able to get at least one before they vanish from the marketplace.

I just can't quit playing with my two. Now I'm on a mission to try to secure a second set to use and use hard. I'm sure this Cruwear edition of this great model will be high in demand for some time to come. Again Sir we sincerely thank you for all of your unselfish efforts

Well I do understand what you're saying but I got a different take on it. I'm going to try to be a little more upbeat. I think it's going to go over so good that they might be tempted to put it back into production again
OR: They might use this great C-60 model over again whenever they roll out newer/better blade steel
Because it seems to be selling like Superbowl tickets. And if it really is selling that good ( because it seems to be) they should not completely delete it in my humble opinion.

I suppose they could do those things. I think it's more realistic to take them at their word -- maybe in 5 or 10 more years. The planning on these things runs to years, they already have plans for what Moki will make for them next, we understand that Moki is rebuilding somewhat and not at a space where they can just flex a little and bang out another sprint run.

In terms of their motivation - most Spyderco sprints sell out fairly quickly, so even if the Ayoob sells out by Halloween it's not like that'd be such a shock that Spyderco is going to go 'oh wow, we've caught lightning in a bottle here, let's push some of our other development projects to the back burner and see if we can't add the Ayoob to the 2023 or 2024 lineup'. This is a company that is famous for seeing its limited runs sell out in minutes, and then letting them be. There's got to be a lot of discipline involved in how they choose to pursue and adjust and so on.

But that's far from saying they'll 'completely delete it' or that they'll ignore all the implications of the way people embraced the sprint. I think the Ayoob sprint is doing well and that's very good for everyone, and I'd be surprised if it doesn't end up having an impact on how Spyderco eventually chooses to implement some of what's already in its development pipeline. I'd love to see these thin well beveled G-10 scales, milled frames and solid metal backspacers on more Spyderco models, and if that happens, I'd consider that a pretty big win for the campaign overall on top of getting the sprint done in the first place, and I know I'd be buying some knives as a result.

Anyway, if they put the Ayoob back into production or use it as a vehicle for new steels I'll be right there with you cheering and fistbumping. But short of that there's a lot more ways your campaign could end up further impacting Spyderco's work over the next few years that'd end up being pretty nifty if you ask me.

Agreed that it's a real value-add - for everyone. Web communities thrive when people are willing to do stuff like this. It's good for everyone from Spyderco on down to the guy buying his first Spyderco.
