Austin Riley has had the best July I've ever seen by a Brave since Chipper did what he did in '99 en route to be coming the N.L. M.V.P.
I believe Riley hit .423 with 11 HR's & 25 R.B.I.'s!
I know Chipper had 11 Home Runs in '99 but, Riley actually had a little better average ( I think Chipper batted .409 that year) & Riley also had a few more ribbies than Chipper. That's just staggering numbers for the month of July!

Then we get their closer, who is also very good...and a few prospects. Still, not a fan.

Was hoping Machado was included, we could use the bat!

I think the Hader trade will work for the Brewers, long term. It's tough to let a guy like Josh go, but we're a small market team with an owner who is somewhat of a cheapskate.

He could end up the N.L. M.V.P.
Depends on how he goes thru August & September.......M.L.B. - it's a brutal schedule!

I don't hate it long term, and it may even work short term, because Devin Williams is elite, and I think poised to equal, or surpass, the current Hader. That said, we are sellers while in first place, and need offensive improvement now, to have a chance at that ever elusive World Series. I would have much preferred a trade to get us closer to that, while we have a great pitching staff, that we probably won't ever replicate. Oh well, I'll cry in my beer.

It's like I get it, but I don't. Their finally getting their pitching staff healthy, the bats have been more alive since break as well. Let's build on it!! Small market or not, why are you there if you're not going to swing for the fences and make moves when you're already a solid team!?

I still think the Brews have a great shot , divisions locked in the way it looks . As long as bats keep steady I think they have a great shot towards championship series . While Cards fans like me whine . MG2

Because Mark L. Attanasio won't spend the money. It's as simple as that. As long as they're contenders, the revenue is good enough for him.

It could really be as simple as that. But, more playoff games, and a potential championship, add a lot of revenue and value to a franchise. I just really wish they would have traded for more offense, because last year's playoffs really proved they need it, even though Yelich is back and hitting better. Baseball is so top heavy now though, that maybe they felt there wasn't anything worth mortgaging their future for that could get them past LA, NYM, ATL and now maybe SD anyway. My glass half full side says they have a shot against anyone with Burnes, Woodruff and a healthy Peralta even now. Maybe.

Well, we're ranked #22 in team batting average and #7 in runs per game. That tells me the offense is spread over a lot of guys.

Cards got a shot in the arm picking up Quintero and Montgomery starting pitchers and gave Badar to Yanks who has been on IL . Glad we got some pitching big time and hope it gives the bullpen quality innings . I still think we won’t be able to catch the Brews , July schedule hurt us bad . Best possibility is a shot at a wild card and even that is not a guarantee .

Last night, they move Williams into the closer role...so naturally he gives up the game winning home run. Today, they put in the Matt Bush guy in the 10th, and allows a walkoff...on a wild pitch.

This is what happens when you get cute! The clubhouse isn't happy with the trade, and I'm honestly thinking it's effecting the entire team.
