Well, Brandfolder was awkward. I guess I'm in.

EuroEdge

Ed Schempff's contemporary dagger appealed to me in several ways.
First of all, who isn't transfixed by the appearance, myth and legend of a dagger.
It also appealed to my Scottish heritage, resembling a folding version
of a sgian-dubh single edge knife, part of traditional highland dress.
And finally, it was a reminder of my cloak and dagger days
as a US Army counter-intelligence agent in West Germany.

The image attempts to contrast the brightness and grain
of a gorgeous steel blade and machined and polished G-10 scales
against the hard won rust on a work truck.

Great pictures. Good luck everyone.

Am I the only one that wants that kitchen knife!!!! I want the kitchen knife more then the native. I am really into the cooking thing lately. haha

Oh I definitely do, I'm just trying to make it more fun. Like I said, if I'm lucky enough to win the grand prize I'm keeping the kitchen knife for sure.

Model: Paramilitary2, C81GPCMO2, hand maded micarta scales, SPM S30V

Hi everyone!
My proposal for a photo for the calendar. Why that? Paramilitary2 is useful, perfect for outdoors, but perfect for a DIY workshop.

Good luck everyone!

Spyderco Paramilitary 2

Thank Spyderco for doing the contest again!
Iconic Spyderco Paramilitary is chosen because I was lucky enough to purchase one when it was out of stock everywhere. I had an original Paramilitary and how Paramilitary evolves shows that there are a lot of improvements behind the scene which I really appreciate! Hope the photo I submitted presents how majestic Paramilitary is.

Forum Name: DutchBlades
Product Name: Spyderco Urban Ivory Damasteel
SKU C127GPIVD

The Urban has earned it's fame and can now count itself amongst the fancy models with this latest iteration.
Combining it's tried and true ergonomics and blade shape with the absurdly beautiful DS93X Damasteel, it's a sight to behold.
The character this steel bring to table is impossible to miss, and makes every single knife unique from the start.
This is the complete package when it comes to combining a great EDC knife, and premium materials with a healthy dose of class.

I decided to go with my Spyderco Endura 4 for my photo entry. It's simple and reliable for everyday use. I chose to capture the knife with string to show what I rely on it for and also just to capture the beauty of the knife in a creative fun way.

Well, I'm as close to the deadline as possible but I managed to submit I think.
I have absolutely no idea if the Brandfolder submission worked.
I entered the details in a message but after uploading the photo i got some jumbled message.
I'm pretty sure the photo uploaded but not all that sure that the info went with it.

Oh, well. I had a good time with the photo anyway. I picked the Native LW because I'm a steel collector and I have plenty Natives in a large variety of steels. Sitting here looking at the photo it looks like I even forgot to grab some. Looks like some of the oranges are missing. The variety of steels and colors are certainly well represented with this fun to collect but serious, solid, and ready to work model. My initial idea was to capture a knife both still and in motion in the same photo... lighting and time. The target was a last-minute decision, and the variety of the Natives led me to picking them over other models.

I took this picture by the lake a few years ago and I've always liked it. So now it's my submission to this year's contest

St. Nick’s Native Chief
C244GPRDBK

The original Native was my second Spyderco and always a reliable companion. The Native Chief is an improvement in nearly every way over the Native 5. I get the stupendous Golden back lock as well as better length ratios and ergonomics. Adding to the Chief’s excellent design are the St. Nick’s red & black colorway and CPM 4V steel. I really enjoy this combination!

This year’s submission photo was taken on vacation this year. The boardwalk to the beach has a pleasant depth to it that sort of gives me the feeling that the Chief is leading us to some place better.

Same here. It seemed very "unfinished" on the website, just said you successfully uploaded but it just didn't seem very final. It would be nice to get some further confirmation before it's too late.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one wondering about the somewhat unclear confirmation.
I sent out a message when I uploaded my file, so I'll be sure to post the feedback I might receive on it ;)

Nature’s Contours

Image

A spring trip to Acadia National Park in Maine yielded some fantastic vistas underneath a constantly changing sky. The park is full of glacier-crafted geological features. While hiking around Jordan Pond, it began to rain. The already hushed environment became alive with the sound of droplets splashing into the water’s surface and onto the granite shoreline. In the distance, I could see the Bubbles, two glacier-formed granite peaks. Surrounded by water and its powerful effects on the landscape, I was glad to have my Caribbean with me - a water-adapted knife with contours that mimic nature.

"God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"

I chose these four Spydercos, three of which are factory seconds, to represent the imperfect and flawed people that we all are for my holiday-themed photo. Like the song says, let us not be dismayed by our own imperfections and the world's troubles, but be of good cheer, for the holiday season always brings tidings of comfort and joy.

_______________
postscript: I uploaded and got a message "You have successfully uploaded 1 asset into Spyderco Marketing" but no final message...wonder if I did it right?

Clear Skies Ahead

I chose the Siren for 2 reasons. First, it’s one of many examples of what makes Spyderco great: responsiveness to customer issues. Once again you guys came out on top of the lock issue, and I applaud you for that. And second, it’s just a great knife! It has become my most carried EDC as I go about about making improvements to our property in the hot, humid, often rainy Southeast.
