That’s an incredible $184.43 per inch of cutting edge!!

Fair play trying to sell a tiny knife for that much - my hat goes off to you, it that works out for you your laughing all the way to the bank.

Those paying that much for a tiny knife - you have to stop pushing the Q-tip when there’s resistance! :zany

i would love one of these, but they are out of my reach for sure. maybe if it wasn't a us steel shipped overseas and then back to america, it wouldn't be so cost-prohibitive. i'd rather buy one of these in vg10 at a reasonable price than not be able to even consider it in any other steel. i've wanted a balance since i first saw them, but they were already long gone before i was here. a sprint run could be great, but not when it's not affordable or at least at a justifiable for me, which is sadly the story for most sprints.

just for some perspective on 'balance', the military 2 salt only costs $5 more than this knife at msrp, which equates to virtually nothing from a retailer and might even make the military cheaper in some cases because it's not a sprint.

i'm glad i don't feel a need to chase every design anymore. i'm bummed to pass on the balance, but not as much as i would've been at one point.

I would have jumped on this a year ago when I was crazy about collecting as many unique Spyderco models as I could.

At present though, I'd rather wait for the Spy27 Endela to drop and buy two of them, as I now value practicality more than enlarging my collection.

Mine is on the way. I'll report when I receive it. Really looking forward to how the design works in practice.

I have an original Balance and a couple Equilibriums, and the one thing I would have loved to see was a Ti framelock/linerlock on these, like the Air. I still might get it though, but just to have. I always tend to look down on stainless-handled framelocks, especially at this price point.

I tried to get my knife-modder buddy to convert a couple of Equilibriums to Ti framelocks, but he didn't want to attempt it, saying it was too small to comfortably work with 😕.
Ti junkie. Steel snob. Voids warranties.

Another use for the Balance. KaliGman used to have a pretty good presence on the Forum.

Hold up, Mr. Treat — it’s here somewhere in my fifth pocket… wait… okay, hang on… deploying now—ah! Dang it, I dropped it!

To say that something is "overpriced" implies unfair pricing? Our pricing is based on our costs and is consistent with our normal margins. Japan is expensive, and shipping US steel to Japan is also expensive.

I've been buying and collecting Spydercos since 2017. One thing I've always loved about your company is there's a knife for every person's budget. No matter what you get you will be happy because everything Spyderco makes is quality. Sometimes they're not the sexiest (designed in the dark), but they are undisputedly the most useful and long lasting. :bug-red-white
