I'll probably keep the second detent on this knife just for peace of mind while carrying, but I am wondering about the stock bearings. I've never had a Spyderco that wasn't on PB washers; are they using ceramic or stainless steel ball bearings? Normally I'd put Skiffs in a new knife on bearings.

Just came in today while I was at work. Haven't taken it apart, not sure I'm going to as just looking down in there with a flashlight this one looks like it comes with caged ceramic ball bearings already. Don't think I'm going to remove the second detent on this one as I think I like the extra security in pocket. Have to say my initial impression is that the flipper works much better than I expected; it's especially good at the "bic lighter" style of opening with your thumb that has always seemed natural to me.

The micarta seems excellent on this one. A little more "finished" than the brown canvas micarta on the CruCarta series; smoother but still with plenty of cloth surface texture.

Very nice, Wallach. Mine comes in tomorrow. Those scales look good.

Those are beautiful scales and it’s a very nice looking knife. I do wish someone would commission a run with those scales and K390 on either a Native Chief or Military 2 though.

Yes it has caged bearings , Skiff bearing give you more bearing surface . I have never had my Smock open in pocket since removing the second detent . Strictly a personal decision may not be for everyone. I’m not a fidget guy just use knife as a tool . MG2
