I almost thought I lost my Native 5 Salt Magnacut while I was fishing last week. It was horrible.
I went home and took off all my gear and realized I didn't have it. I ran back to the beach and retraced my steps and turned the car upside down looking for it.
When I got home, it was in my wading boot much to my relief! I have no idea how it slid into my boot but boy was I relieved.
That knife is my fishing/beach companion and I would hate to lose it but if I did, I would go out and buy another in a heartbeat.
Lost, misplaced, disappeared, stolen
Re: Lost, misplaced, disappeared, stolen
My first experience of losing a Spyderco happened yesterday - my D’fly Salt SE H1
Wore it IWB to the beach with my kids, got changed, put it in the beach bag loose and now it is gone. I suspect it fell out in the boot (trunk?) of the rental car we were using for the day. Absolutely gutted as that little knife had been with me for years, was my constant running companion and had a special place in my heart.
I hope whoever finds it enjoys it as much as I did.

Re: Lost, misplaced, disappeared, stolen

My first two Spydercos. The Stretch I think I lost backpacking in the Sierra Nevada. The Dragonfly I think fell out of my pocket during a fairly routine day - no idea. The clip was probably loose.
I lost a Matriarch 2 in the glovebox of a car that was totaled. Left it in there by accident.
I lost the PM2 in my profile picture at an Illegal Pete's in Denver, Colorado. The clip had been loose for awhile, down to two screws, and my lazy butt put off fixing it for too long. I called first thing the next day and visited shortly after to no avail.
I'm lucky to have enough knives now that if I damage a clip or realize it's too loose I can just rotate the knife out until I have time to fix it. I think that loose clips are the #1 culprit of lost knives.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.
