A couple of other great channels to consider for sending a Magnamax Mule out for testing would be OUTDOORS55 and DoodysDaggers.
OUTDOORS55 is a super deep dive into all things sharpening, knives, knife steel etc. more of the ‘science’ behind the edge and has over 400k subscribers.
Doodys is just a fun channel - guys LOVES Spydercos and has a great ‘working mans’ cut test he does on knives - which is where I first saw the awesome performance of the k294 Mule.
If you are looking for more folks to get these out to, these would be a couple of great considerations.

Personally Red L, I know of one here in Texas that would even pay for his, they could send me one right now lol, and I am not so far away either.
Heck I even have an extra set of scales and a Sheath on hand that are brandy new in the bags ready as I am for this MagnaMax...

Haha, me too! But it would be wasted on me in my current state, as I am woefully short on both sharpening goodies and skills.
Plus I need to play around with the 15V mule I have now before I think about another...

We are all testers here that will get our hands on one soon enough.
Testers and posters here should get priority. We’re not testing for likes or clicks.

so I have a weird question... does Spyderco have any issues with Pete's (of the Cedric and Ada youtube channel) edge retention testing results?
Reason I ask is that per Pete's Mule spreadsheet, MagnaCUT (not Magnamax) is already more edge retentive than K390. Yes I know his results differ from others. But the beauty of that particular graph is that they are steels all at 17 degree polished edge, all Mule Team blade geometry, and all HT by Spyderco. So when Magnacut outcuts K390 in sisal rope cutting that tells me that MagnaCUT done well holds a cutting edge longer than K390 done well... already. And is a stainless K390, already.
Anyway, when I post that MagnaCUT is already a MORE edge retentive, stainless K390 on Erica's youtube channel in the vid discussing "is MagnaMax a stainless K390", it has been erased three different times... unless I screwed up, but I don't think I did. Reason I ask is what is the point of MagnaMAX if MagnaCUT is already an edge retention champion... which should be rated 8 rather than 5 in Larrin's steel rating tables if Pete's tests are to mean anything.
Well, I'm not speaking for Spyderco here, but I find Pete's testing to lack enough control and his evaluation method to be too subjective. Basically when he cuts against the cutting board, there's no way to eliminate other variables imparted by the contact with the cutting board. Then to add to that, his method of evaluating the edge based on the feeling of how it cuts paper is entirely subjective, not to mention I question how consistent the test medium (the paper) is itself.
So when he has one steel outperform another, and that runs contrary to expected or observed results, then it becomes a question of whether the discrepancies were from the impact against the cutting board (whether that be due to force, angle, speed, or whatever else), his perception of the feeling as it cuts paper being different from one test or the other, or even if he is able to perceive the quality of the cut in paper exactly every time, whether the paper itself is actually the exact same from test to test.
I think most of that could be overcome if he ran the tests multiple times and averaged out the results, which I believe he has done for some steels, but otherwise I tend to not regard his data as reliable.

I’m looking forward to getting both a Magnamax & AEBL mule to try out. Thinking of using them in the kitchen. Anyone else primarily use there mule in the kitchen? I’d love to know your preferred handle choice & washing routine.

I've used this AEB-L mule on veggies for almost a year, re-sharpened it once & no rust yet.
Scales are 3DP PETG, slicer modified www download, added surface fuzz and thumb cutouts.
Wash with hot water & soap & wipe dry.

I dont really have any thoughts on priority one way or another, but I do think that ‘testing for like and clicks’ somewhat trivializes the insane amount of work that has gone into some of these tests. If we are talking about someone like Pete from C&A, I’m fairly certain he is doing it because he is a nerd like all of us and I’m happy he is sharing the results from whatever testing he is doing, however scientifically imperfect they may be.
The secondary benefit is that it exposes more people to not only Spyderco but more specifically to the Mule Team project, which is really good! The more interest and sales there are with the mules, the more energy is backing the project as a whole.
I hope we get a chance to get one as well, but I’m good for however is shakes out.

carter: "Mule_Handle_V2_v2.stl" was in "
https://www.printables.com/model/383982 ... erco-mules"
In my slicer: (1) thickened (20% Z only), (2) added a thumb cutout, (3) filled in the first hole (4) added fuzz.

We're are getting two new Mules and both available in PE & SE...
Edit: tried a screen shot of the reveal, but was so grainy you couldn't read it. This was the best I can do, it's next to the last page of the reveal...

I will get a MagnaMax in PE and maybe an SE too just for the fact that its an SE Mule. I did get two MagnaCut Mules when they dropped, it was a nightmare of a crashing site, but got the order in. Any thoughts how this drop will go? Will demand be as high as MagnaCut was?

You were lucky I couldn’t even log in for the Magnacut drop. It kept spinning and timing out on me. I want both of the next drops but I’m still a bit bitter about the Magnacut thing and don’t look forward to the upcoming drop.

Was it worse than the 15V drop? The site crashed out on me for like a half hour

I think the MagnaCut drop took me 30 maybe even 60 minutes to check out. But with the new Spyderco.com coming next week there could be an improvement.
