So, I am looking at my Brad Southard flipper and wondering about your statement. I wouldn’t dismiss Taichung all that easily.

By integral, I think apollo means that the handle is a single piece machined from solid titanium, as opposed to the more common left and right slabs that are screwed together. It does not refer to the Reeve integral lock in this context.

The Spyderco Paysan is an example of an integral framelock manufactured in Taichung. I know that Reate also makes integrals. There are probably other Taiwanese makers that do so too.

Your correct that is what i meant. Taichung can make them and they can make them very good. But they can not make them in large batches Eric told us in Amsterdam as they do not posses the equipment lionsteel has.

Okay I see what you are talking about. Integral takes on a different meaning depending on the application.

The "Reeve Integral Lock" is the original name for what is now commonly referred to as a framelock.

An "integral framelock" means that lock is integrated into the handle while remaining one single piece.

The recently announced Spyderco Slym, produced by Lionsteel, is an integral framelock. I feel like that detail is often overlooked with that design. To the point that expecting it to be something people highlight when they receive the knife because they were unaware prior to receiving it.

If an integral lock is part of the frame then does it matter if the frame is one piece or two? Either way it’s an integral lock.

Yes, it is a Reeve Integral Lock whether the handle is one piece or two.

It is not an integral framelock unless the handle is machined out of one single piece.

I have a spyopera and I have been nothing but happy with it. I put a 17.5 bevel on the edge and it is plenty slicey for my needs. Love the quality and build. I have several other lion steels and I've been happy with every one of them.
