I’d love a competitor to my LT Wright Frontier Valley in Cruwear. Make it thin stock with an FRN handle to keep the cost down. An EDC fixed blade with a minimal handle and under 6.5” OAL so it’s easy to conceal.
Perfect! Yes please. :smiling-hearts
Spyderco, this is the knife I want from you. I suspect many people would too. :smlling-eyes

2.5mm - 3mm stock thickness Cruwear, with Blade geometry similar to that of The UKPK and Delica.

Keep the sheath low-key and minimal size for cost and easy pocket carry.
Maybe a small Spydiehole could engage with the sheath for added security.

Cruwear …or the higher-hardness Mule Team AEB-L to help keep prices in check but the performance high.

I haven’t owned an Enuff, although the new one is still on my list.

I’ll buy that!

That’s 4 so far in favour of the Frontier Valley design.

I'd like an ARK 2 with 1 inch more blade length and a wharncliffe version.

Yeah I could go for that myself. That would be another nice candidate for Cruwear blade steel. Unless they want to put it in the Salt Series.

I would hate to see them do their own take on that knife without scaling up the overall size 10-20%

No knife makes me dislike my genetics more than the Frontier Valley. It's as close to perfect as I've found for a light to medium duty EDC fixed blade. Lovely blade shape, no sharpening notch, nice grind, comes in some steels with really nice sharpening response, fairly priced, etc.

But it's a 3.5 finger grip for me, which is why I sold off all the ones I owned.

Another change it needs in my eyes, is contouring the front of the scales to the tang for better pinch grip ergonomics.

Other than those two nitpicks it's pretty much perfect in my eyes. I'd personally lose the lanyard hole but I know knife companies would never go for that.

I'll have to see if I still have the photos on my PC, but I reground my Ark to a wharnie shape. I'd like to see something like this too, without the positive angle I was forced to implement due to it being a regrind.

It also needs a new sheath. Mine could easily be pulled out while ignoring the CQI button that was supposed to lock it in.

Yeah your mod was part of what convinced me to get one in the first place. I'd carry/wear mine everyday if I could get away with it at work. If they made one with just a bit more blade with a wharnie shape I'd probably get both blade shapes and I'd even get kydex sheaths made. I love how thin these knives are ground, probably the craziest hollow grind that Spyderco makes.

I hate to be a broken record but it would be perfect for MagnaCut. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy one in Cruwear, but I do think it's a better idea to make neck knives in a highly stainless or Salt rated steal. I'd be in for any of the Salt steels. I think if they brought the edge length to 3 inches it would be such a useful little knife and of course would perform it's intended use a lot better.

Strangely enough I was never a neck knife guy before this knife, and now I feel like it's one of the only ways I'd ever carry a fixed blade, so neck knives are a segment I'd love to see Spyderco expand on. If they do them in 2mm hollow ground with serrations like the ARK then I'm even more interested because this is probably the only serrated neck knife on the market.

The Frontier Valley has very similar dimensions to the TOPS Mini Scandi which I got to handle before sending it back to the dealer because it had an uneven grind. It deffinitely is too small for a full grip, but I pretty much accept that that size of knife isn't meant to have a great grip, it is meant to be small, which makes it easier to carry, but less functional. I replaced the TOPS with an Izula for that role, and while the grip isn't great on the Izula either, it plays it's role well for me. This is all to say that I think this size knife has it's place, it just isn't a general use blade for me.

So in a way I feel like I can echo what you are saying Vivi. What is funny, is that despite the fact that I have very small, slender hands, one of my biggest beefs with many fixed blades is that they don't have a long enough handle. I don't like handles that just fit, I want a little wiggle room.

So Vivi, I'm curious, if you were scale up the Frontier Valley, how long do you think the handle should be?

1/2" more handle would definitely do it, maybe even a hair less like 1/3". I could even go with the same blade length. Kind of like what ESEE did with the Izula 1 & 2. That's what I'd like to see happen with this design.

Ironically enough I'm carrying a fixed blade today that's firmly a 3 finger grip for me:

But, compared to the frontier valley, it feels designed for a 3 finger grip.

When a knife feels designed for a full 4 finger grip but it isn't big enough for me, it tends to feel bad. But knives like this, or even knives like the Spyderco Spin that are clearly designed as 3 or 2 finger grip knives, can work well for me.

I really do like the thought of a Frontier Valley type / style fixed blade, but if I’m being honest I’d rather have something more along the lines of this LT Wright Next Gen. In any steel that Spyderco sees fit to use, as long as it’s Cru-wear! ;) No, seriously any steel, tool or stainless. This is a 7.5” OAL knife with a 3” blade, I’d be good with a 7” OAL, 3” blade and a 4” handle.

I don't have any experience with AEB-L but I'd be open to try it out.

I'd love to see a Spyderco version of the A.G. Russell Woodswalker. Prior to getting a custom little fixed blade that uses utility blades, the Woodswalker was my around the house beater knife. Mine is an older version using AUS8 steel *I think*. An outdoor instructor I respected used one as a neck knife. I like the design enough I had a knife maker friend make a fancy one with wood scales & 154CM steel. Only thing he missed in the design was making the blade thicker.

A Spyderco version with a 2mm thick full flat grind blade of H2, LC200N, or budget friendly CTS BD1N, and G10 scales.

12 inch LC200n machete, thin blade stock, nice and light for it’s size, like the 12 inch Tramontina. Option for a coated blade.

Aqua Salt 2 or something similar, maybe Golden made so it can be offered in LC200n and/or Magnacut more easily.

Another dedicated spear fishing knife, with a bright handle and coated blade, again in H2 like the Fish Hunter.

A true sheepsfoot fixed blade in PE LC200n or Magnacut - a fixed blade version of the Caribbean would be awesome. Again, options for a coated blade.

A small and light fixed blade with a short blade but full-length handle. I had a Tops Street Scalpel many years ago and while it was far too thick to work well for my purposes the concept of a full-length handle with a short (maybe it was 2 inches or so?) blade worked really well. Naturally I would love to see it in a Salt if possible with a coated blade/bright handle option. In a perfect world it would be available in both a pointy tip of some sort and a sheepsfoot option, with fairly thin bladestock. Essentially a woods/water scalpel for long-term use.

Finally, I would love to see a salt PFD/rescue fixed blade with a bigger handle and better sheath system than the Enuff. I’d love to see Spyderco come out with a really exceptional water rescue knife. Maybe a fixed-blade Autonomy?

There was a small knife builder in Wilmington, NC named Forge & Foundry that made a small fixed blade called the Patch, he’s since went out of business and I’ve kicked myself repeatedly for not grabbing one!

Great size, would be pretty awesome with a high hollow grind. I’d even like the wood scales.

Blade HQ carried them years back…specs right here.

Street Beat with 3mm stock (but make the scales thicker so handle thickness remains the same)
magnacut or LC200N
available in satin and black
coarsely textured forest green micarta
with a taco style sheath like the Waterway that's drilled to accept two G clips when oriented for horizontal
Yes, this. I’d love to see this treatment on the Street Bowie also if it was possible.

I think this one could be made into a nice fixed blade - perhaps in 52100 - pricy but nice 😊
