After 3-ish years on the forum, I just now understands the meaning of ZrowsN1s. Nice.

LOL, I'm in IT too and I never thought about your forum name that way. D'oh!

My binary to decimal is rusty but I think that also translates to 85, correct me if I'm wrong. :winking-tongue

@nerdlock my math is ALWAYS rusty. But lets see. 01010101 = 64+16+4+1=85 correct! Bonus = 5 5 in Hexadecimal.

I have a stainless Harpy and would definitely get a G10 Harpy if they decided to do another run.

The handle size and shape is very nice and the knife is literally iconic, but smooth SS isn’t the ideal material for a hawkbill IMO.
The same knife in coarse G10 would be so much more useful.
And while we’re at it, make a drop point or leaf shape bladed model with the SS Harpy scales. That would get me the most use from those masterpiece SS handles.

Yes indeed!! and I wouldn't want to stop at the Spyderhawk model. I have such good memories of my G-10 Harpy and have been wanting another G-10 Harpy ever since mine got stolen.

And I can't understand why there hasn't been more G-10 Harpy models since then. It is one of the most sought after collector Hawkbills ever.

And I wouldn't want to stop with a reintroduction of the G-10 Harpy. I would also like to see a G-10 handled Spyderhawk along with a Superhawk as well. With G-10 handles it would be a serious upgrade of a very useful piece of cutlery that few seem to take seriously. But with better handles I do think more and more people would change their opinions rather quickly.

With many people in the fishing industry and other marine type uses of Hawkbill blades it just makes sense to have a handle in which your grip/purchase would be greatly increased.

It just makes perfect sense to use the Spyderhawk model to introduce a new concept. The last time they did they had great success. When one of our good Forum Brothers several years back suggested that Spyderco consider doing the Spyderhawk with corrosion resistant H-1 blade steel it became an immediate success.

When Spyderco reintroduced the Spyderhawk with an H-1 blade it was as though it was a brand new model all together.

I just know in my gut that Hawkbill folders with G-10 handles would have many knife enthusiasts taking Hawkbill blades far more serious for everyday uses than they currently are. Just consider the awesome difference in the original C-60 Ayoob model versus the newer generation C-60 Ayoob with the upgraded G-10 handles is truly a DAY & NIGHT difference. I could site many more examples.

My hope is when the Golden Factory is done with expansion, the Superhawk will see a revival (hawkbill and leaf). I don't know if it can be done, but I would also like to see a redesigned Spyderhawk G-10 made in Golden too. The Seki line should stay in Seki's capable hands, but a redesign that originates from Golden could possibly be made here without being seen as moving production. The reason to make here of course being Magnacut and affordable G-10.

I can't remember if Spyderco ever did make a Hawkbill at the GOLDEN, CO plant. You would think with them being the king of Hawkbill blades that the idea of a premium, G-10 handled, USA made unit should be appealing.

If they do elect to do a G-10 handled Hawkbill then the GOLDEN plant would be most interesting.

G10 spyderhawk

Exhibit A
Image

I've carried a H1 spyderhawk since they were first released. It's my most carried spyderco and knife. Unfortunately it has a shortcoming. G10 Scales might fix this as I've never had this happen with G10. I've flexed and bent some clips mounted to g10 but they don't shift to the side.

All I have is a superhawk. I think that's CF. The superleaf is G-10.

I'm pretty happy with FRN hawkbills.

I'm not at all saying the FRN handled Hawkbills are deficient in any way. But I do think that a G-10 handle would provide betty grip/purchase properties and give Spyderco Hawkbill blades more respectability. And for anyone who had use for any type of Hawkbill blade in their vocation I would think that a G-10 handled unit would have much more longevity over the long haul.

Another advantage that I believe a G-10 handle would provide would be to make them less slick in wet conditions. Which is why I've gravitated to most all of my "Users" having G-10 handles.

I'd be happy with a new FRN Spyderhawk in an upgraded steel. Magnacut would be the obvious option.

Spyderhawk. Please bring back the Spyderhawk in G-10. I’d settle for just bringing back the Spyderhawk. It’s the perfect knife for cutting almost everything.

G-10 Harpy + G-10 Spyderhawk = Perfection!

I always feel like that Spyderhawk sprint handle is a lil soft in the middle. Add one or even two steel liners and G-10 and you have the stiffest hawkbill combo package on the market bar none. And it's the original hawkbill too, you're really on to something JD! Give it a compression lock et voilà... even though it's not as easy as typing out the words I am well aware...
