NFL 2022-2023 Season
Re: NFL 2022-2023 Season
These Patriots/Panthers joint practices are getting ridiculous with the fighting
Re: NFL 2022-2023 Season
Local media has been comparing it the the Celtics/Lakers rivalry in the 80s. It seems like there’s at least one fight per training camp in New England and it’s usually nothing to be concerned about but the past few days have been out of hand!
I had local sports radio on this morning and the broadcasters are physically at training camp. As they were talking about one fight another would break out at the other end of the field, it was chaos.
Re: NFL 2022-2023 Season
I'm really bummed out this morning troops
I Just got word that Kansas City Chief's legend QB "Lenny "The Cool" Dawson" is now in hospice and not expected to last very much longer. Lenny Dawson is a "Hall of Famer" and most valuable player in Superbowl IV. He was a premier QB of his era and later became a super good football journalist for many years after his retirement from the NFL. The QB/Receiver combo of Lenny Dawson and Otis Taylor was probably only second to Roger Staubach & Drew Pearson during that era in the NFL.
Lenny Dawson was a true Icon of the Chiefs and the city of Kansas City. He was a top notch sports broadcaster for the Chiefs up till about 3 years ago when he finally retired. He was treated like a Rock Star everywhere he went. He was on HBO's "Inside The NFL" show for a long time with fellow NFL greats Nick Buoniconti and Cris Collinsworth. It truly saddens me to see such a class act have to go down this way. I encourage all of you to check out Lenny Dawson's history when you have time>> you'll be amazed. Any prayers sent to Lenny and his family will be highly appreciated.

My neighbors are down in Bradenton, Florida...came across a bar with the Bills flag flying! Pretty cool to see the love down there.

Re: NFL 2022-2023 Season
My goodness.....did y'all see that 81 yard BOOMER the Saints punter kicked? It's the damdest punt I've ever seen.....without question, the highest and longest..... It was a sight to behold! Lol, the next day the Saints punter was "randomly" selected for a drug test..... I'm anxiously awaiting the results! Will he pizz hot, or not? For, that is the question that inquiring minds want to know!
Re: NFL 2022-2023 Season
You know we really haven't had the "Super Quality" punters in the NFL since the days of "Ray Guy" ( Oakland Raiders fame) and Reggie Roby ( Miami Dolphins fame).MacLaren wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 7:53 amMy goodness.....did y'all see that 81 yard BOOMER the Saints punter kicked? I distinctly remember when Ray Guy punted a ball so high that it hit the roof of the Seattle Kingdome ( former Seahawk's stadium). I didn't even think that to be humanly possible at the time he did it.
But MAC I will keep my eyes on this guy for sure. But do check out these super punters from the past. And I sincerely hope that Punter you mentioned wasn't on performance enhancing drugs. If he was then he's in deep doo-doo.

Re: NFL 2022-2023 Season
Oh, I remember Reggie Roby well
Re: NFL 2022-2023 Season
Since those two punters i.e. Ray Guy and Reggie Roby I don't recall any punter of recent time with the performances those two had. Ray Guy was recently proclaimed as the best punter in NFL history>> and I'm very confident that he was not a "steroid droid".
Reggie Roby I think spent most of his career with the fins. But he had some boomers as well.
It will be of interest to see how this Saint's punters drug test comes out. If he's clean then he might be the next Ray Guy. Ray Guy's best punt by the way was 74 yards to the best of my memory.
Re: NFL 2022-2023 Season
The Bills drafted a punter this year, Matt Araiza, and he had an 82 yard punt in their last preseason game. It’s almost like there’s a new standard being set for NFL punters!MacLaren wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 7:53 amMy goodness.....did y'all see that 81 yard BOOMER the Saints punter kicked? Like I said earlier it will be extremely interesting to see the results of this drug test on the Saint's kicker. For there to now be two kickers that can arguably be better than Ray Guy and Reggie Roby is almost way too good to be true. And can they do it under NFL regular season pressure is another question to be answered.Mushroom wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 8:35 amThe Bills drafted a punter this year, Matt Araiza, and he had an 82 yard punt in their last preseason game. It's just like you say then. Wow!
Of course, it's more than booming punts that make a great punter. Gotta be able to place the ball in coffin corners so to speak. Pin em back DEEP.
I've no doubt though, these guys can do it.
Re: NFL 2022-2023 Season
I'm still waiting for the results of that drug test before I even think about being a fan of either one of them. If that test is dirty then that's is going to not only open a can of worms it will be releasing a barrel full of snakes needless to say.MacLaren wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 9:08 amNick, you gotta be kidding!Mushroom wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 8:35 amThe Bills drafted a punter this year, Matt Araiza, and he had an 82 yard punt in their last preseason game. But in another sense I can't even imagine players being dumb enough to do that with all the sophisticated testing they have now.
And you make an excellent point that if they can't put the opposing team back on the 5 yard line or less then it's nothing but window dressing.

Punting the ball 80 yards won’t stop the new cowboys PR/KR

Hehehehe......some of yall will remember ole Rocket. He played for Notre Dame, fast as helll really. He was extremely dangerous returning the ball.
Re: NFL 2022-2023 Season
The Bills new punter has been dubbed “punt god” in college because he had so many 70+ yard punts! He might actually be the real deal but I wouldn’t be surprised if their drug tests come back a little bit negative.JD Spydo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 9:04 amLike I said earlier it will be extremely interesting to see the results of this drug test on the Saint's kicker. I wish I was kidding! Although the Pats haven’t been able to force the Bills to punt much in the past couple seasons, so I’m not sure if he will get much of a chance to show off his leg in those games…MacLaren wrote: Nick, you gotta be kidding!

Re: NFL 2022-2023 Season
Speaking of NFL punters I was just taking an in depth look at the Chief's punter Tommy Townsend>> who I always thought to be a fairly decent and somewhat above average punter. But if we've got two guys who can consistently boom 70 yard plus punts then our guy Tommy is a high schooler by comparison.
But do consider that Tommy doesn't have to punt very often with Sir Patrick leading the way. And he is an excellent holder for Harrison Butker our esteemed place kicker. So with that said he has some job security at this time.
But if the standards are going to increase to that level that's just completely unprecedented. I truly thought that Ray Guy was head and shoulders above virtually everyone in that position. But before further comment I want to see what the drug test says. But this is still a huge change of NFL standards to say the least.
