I've had a fight with one of these "I'm big and I get violent when drunk" guys... he was 6'2" and about 210lbs, football player for 2yrs(senior team in HS).

We had been drinking(of course), and all had a few. 3 of us went walking and this guy flipped about 10min out. Went Ape-Sh*t on 2 of us. Other guy he just cold-cocked first shot. He made a shot at me, missed and charged at me. Tripped him, got on him and fed him a few good shots. When he came to(called someone else at the house and we carried the 2 guys back), he asked what happened, appologized, and hasn't had more than a beer in a night since(back in mid april).

I'm not even a big guy. 6' 190lbs, 32" waist. It's all about reaction speed and training.

I only way 185 pushes trying to point out that larger people have a prejudice against them possibly deserved in my part one comes to violence. I was one of those of holes when I was drunk but this is not to prove your point, I was a really dangerous drunk, there's a balance between not giving bully Slack and leaving well enough alone tempest in a teapot will usually burn itself out. You would have to be brain-dead to think this site is a great place to brag about what a bad*****stepping raiser your. One try to keep this is my last post speculation is just speculation in that the risk of sounding snide, and is much vehemence and little information, however damning it may be. Being big is a liability most of the time it just that you picked on by smaller guys trying to prove point, and quite possibly taking your inexperienced*****he can't talk fast enough. I have learned to be a fast talker, and give a little excuse for conversation. There some serious holes in my argument the period

For the sake of honesty I will admit to a tendency to be provocative and then play the victim, but I have received everything from this post except a knock on the door from the Lynch mob and I and the "bully"?

I hope spiderco has good identity security protocols.

You see yourself in the strangest of places the look at it right sublime

I've been fighting most of my life. I was the kid everyone ganged up on because I was a little heavy. Up until grade 6 I was getting beat daily at school by groups of 5-8 minimum. school officials did nothing about it until I started hitting back(and breaking bones).

grade 6 I started carrying a lockback knife(rather than the slipjoints), though I didn't pull it in school fights. I also started training, and was the largest kid, but not for waist size... was a good 15-20lbs heavier than the next largest and he was a "big boned aboriginal"(keeping it PC)...

I've lost more than enough fights, and have learned how to take on more than 3 ppl at a time. I still end most fights on foot.

no formal training at all. all self taught.

reflexes, conditioning, pain tolerance, and awareness levels came from my early years of avoiding larger groups.

Do I make any effort to sound like some big fighting machine? nope. I merely state fact.

I find most ppl who boast that they are great anythings are simply boasting in an effort to build self estime.

Hi All,

My original comment was not meant to imply that knife laws should be made tougher in California (or as Arnold says, "Kalefornea". Only meant that with people like Druid around, there may be no choice.

Fortunately, I was never involved into a knife fight, and I do hope I'll never be. The worst thing that happened to me so far was a knife argument. There were those guys and us - me and a friend of mine, also knife addict and recently a Spyderco addict since I gave him a spydie - the best knife he ever had . So we were talking about what knife is the best. One of the other guys was praising Victorinox. It does this, it does that. Suddently I grabbed his arm over the table, deploed my ATS-55 PE Delica and gently slid it over his forearm. And the guy looked at the fresh clean path of skin that appeared in the hair of his forearm (about 7" long, and 1.5" wide) and stood silent for a second. "Boy, it's a sharp knife" he muttered. Then he added "now you can start with my legs" and the atmosphere cooled down.

Druid,

its easy man, dont go to a bar armed if you know you will get violent.

VampyreWolf.
much like you i learned to fight in the public school system. though my problem wasnt like yours, like prison school is tough, specially for the small guys . have always been short, which got me picked on a lot. eventually got mad enough and just went to town on some kid. after that i stopped getting bothered as much. i have a little bit of kenpo training, but a lot of it is self taught. even now i dont get bothered by people, have that confident look that makes most people find someone else to mug.

Not a fighter, nor any kind of expert, just a prepared "avoider " any way possible. Any way I would be curious to hear what input an expert would have on this discussion, Mike J. comes to mind . Are you out there ?, what say you? be safe all, mjmcdowell

delicrazy> I have that look from cadets... 7yrs and I spent my last 4 teaching, including my last summer with them as staff(250 staff on a base with 3K kids at any given time). Carry myself at full height also while still nice and relaxed.

I've been told it's both a "think again, punk" and an "I know who'll walk away" look from those who see me. Walking around, crowds are like the red sea here. Makes it a bit*h to blend in, though it does make for easy walking.

I don't go looking for fights, but I'm sure as **** ready for one.

vampyre wolf, strutting, standing out in a crowd and not blending in? I would rather look ordinary to some degree and hope that I would never have to use any tools or abilities. I would rather be a snowball in a snow pile than a piece of coal in the same. never ever want to reveal any secrets, and fortunately have had to in 55 years of living... avery ordinary life . stay safe mjmcdowell

mjm> Not many people have had to fight. Even with the amount I've done I prefer to end my fights on foot(as the usaually end up with backup coming).

I fool around at work all the time, and the other guys don't hold back in the shots, other than not doing face. I have yet to give a full force blow and a couple have been sore the next day(we all fool around, punching, throwing stuff or wrestling on the concrete floor even).

One thing I don't do is use full stength, as I CAN lift the heaviest guy at work. I do 150-250lbs all day from my job. Vertical press with the legs(actaully about 10deg off) was 450lbs for endurance last time I was in a gym 2yrs ago. I can fireman's carry my buddy at 240lbs.

Have I had to seriously injure anyone? Bones so far, no heavy bleeding. Would I be able to do and live with myself after? I'll find out when that bridge is in front of me, but I believe so. Probably have some professional help depending on the situation surrounding such an event.

Given the choice would I? I'd rather spray and run.
