Well, stainless are good because they are stainless, but steels like 1095, which has corrosion resistance of -1 on scale from 0 to 10, are used for decades out in the mother nature without any problems. Just wipe them dry and you are good. Dont need to coat them in oil after every single cut, just dry them after use and you are good.

Matt Deaner said is well, tool steels have better toughness to edge retention ratio then stainless. Tool steel are a way to go in a fixed blade.
K390, HAP 40, HAP 72 (?!) Moran, given the purpose of this knife, would be awesome.

I asked for LC200N, but I would not be sad if they released a tool steel version. Not sad at all.
