I regret not getting the KnifeCenter Native 5 in Cru-wear. I'm looking forward to seeing Cru-wear and Z-Wear in future releases. Thanks, Sal!

Many decades ago, being a knife Junky with fewer choices than we have today, I purchased a Gerber folding hunter with a steel called "Vascowear". I really liked the steel, probably still have the knife around somewhere. I contacted Crucible and asked about it. They said they had the chemistry and had made the earlier steel. They said they could make it for me. They called it Cruwear.
I ordered enough to make a "Mule Team" run. When the steel came in, they informed me that they had powdered it for me. I was surprised and pleased to have CPM Cruwear. (I like powdered steels). The Mule Team was very popular so we began using it on production knives. The knife afi's like it so we're planning more in the future.
More recently, another foundry began making it and calling it Z-Wear. We'll be using it as well.

Thanks Sal! This is very exciting to hear that there may be some more Cruwear and Z-Wear sprint and/or production models coming and not always having to rely on dealer/distributor exclusives. Hopefully more Cru-carta models are being planned. A new Cruwear or Z-Wear sprint series in Grey with DLC would be welcome as well in Golden, Seki, or both.
I wonder if the missing MT29 or MT30 will be Z-Wear??

Congrats on getting one. Sometimes these Cruwear sprints can be difficult to get, but this one has been easy so far.

Oh got it. When are they coming out?
The Endura should be any day, and the Police LW and Endela were part of Reveal 6, so hopefully before the end of the year.

Amazing hearing Sal tell the story. Who would have known.
I like Cruwear for two reasons. One is the "well balanced" set of properties -- not a true stainless, but decent corrosion resistance.
But above all, I find it is easy to sharpen to a great edge by a person with basic sharpening skills (i.e. myself).
That is all it takes for me to become fond of a steel, just cooperate when I try to sharpen.
I have enough things already that frustrate me and give me headaches.
52100 is one of those also, as is S30V quite frankly.
