Re: $300 Taiwan Spyderco?

Yep. Because these Chinese manufacturers have realised the market will accept high prices.
So who’s to blame when a dog takes a dump on your lawn. The dog for taking a dump, or you for giving it access to your lawn?
The Deacon wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 1:49 pmI think there are two basic reasons why collaboration models are generally more expensive. First, is that there's one more mouth to feed. Second, and perhaps more importantly, tooling costs have to be recouped and, in that regard, collaboration models have always been a greater risk for Spyderco than in house designs. Very few collaboration models have remained in Spyderco's lineup for more than three years and a significant number have lasted only one.
Holy moly. I was expecting the market value be around $400. Sheesh! Sad thing is, if I had that much laying around I'd buy it in a second. :DSharp Guy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 3:21 pmIf you think the Subvert is pricey (it is) take a look at the Paysan.

The problem with a $300 knife for me, regardless of country of origin, is that is $100 more than I'm willing to spend on a knife.Tucson Tom wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 5:41 pmWhat is the problem with a $300 Taiwan Spyderco? Does somebody have a problem with a $300 Taiwan Spyderco?
I am with you on that, or I would own the Bradley Bowie. Which is made in Taiwan also, hmmm -- do I see a pattern?Vivi wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 7:28 pmThe problem with a $300 knife for me, regardless of country of origin, is that is $100 more than I'm willing to spend on a knife.Tucson Tom wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 5:41 pmWhat is the problem with a $300 Taiwan Spyderco? As crazy as it might seem I'm actually planning on buying one. It may end up being one of the only knives I buy this year but at least it'll be a good one :) .Brown_Recluse wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 7:14 pmHoly moly. That is one ugly knife. :rolleyes:Blueboost wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 12:46 pmCouldn't help but notice this Spyderco Subvert showing a MSRP of $470, with BladeHQ price of over $300. For a Taiwan made G10 scaled S30V liner lock?
Am I missing something here? Seems... Pricey.

Agreed. When the start of this thread leaves out that it's 3D milled G10 over a titanium liner lock with custom style pivot screws and has a 4.1" blade, yes I'm sure it seems expensive for what you get.
