Yep, plus I find the Storm is both a bit lighter and more pleasant to shoot that a 1911 and holds a few rounds more without going to mags that look like they were made for a SMG. Perhaps more importantly it shoots where I point it. I mean literally point and shoot, even with the laser off and without using the iron sights. No safety to potentially fumble with is another plus.

Shooting where you point, without having to aim. I think more important too. Excellent choice. The Deacon wrote: ↑Sat Oct 13, 2018 3:26 amMacLaren wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 10:52 amI love a good .45 Auto too. Re: Your go to Home Defense Gun
Ithaca 37 DS Police Special 12ga loaded with #4 buckshot is my house gun along with 2 loaded 1911's.... One a Para Ordnance P16 converted to 10mm loaded with WW 175gr Silvertips and my 1970's Combat Commander in 38 Super loaded very warm with 125gr JHPs. The pistols get more work as coyote killers but they would be just fine for home defense as well.
Re: Your go to Home Defense Gun
I’m gonna go with the FN FNX-45 tactical. (Not my pic, but I have largely the same set up)

If you can’t get the job done with 15 rounds of 45 acp, you probably should have picked a different place to live.

Re: Your go to Home Defense Gun
I have several home-defense firearms, but really only because I’m inclined to acquire multiples of things (knives, flashlights, guns, etc.) that interest me. Truth is, if I only had my Glock19, I’d feel well-equipped, but since I have more to choose from, I can and do mix it up a bit.
So, for eventualities inside my house, I presently have a 9mm Walther PPQ with night-sights that lives in a night-stand gun-safe which I open at night. The gun has no mounted light because, having no kids and no more pets in the house, I want to tangle with intruders from the darkness I know. If they choose to light things up, I’ll thank them for self-identifying. FWIW, I don’t prefer my PPQ for carry, owing to a trigger-weight that rivals my S&W 686-4 in single-action.
Before my wife and I hit the sack, I have other handguns through the house I can retrieve quickly. Which one Is determined much like my Spydies: I will take the one that’s been on my mind.
For things that go bump in the night out in my yard, I have a 10mm Glock20 with a mounted light. I reckon any encountered New England critter can be stopped if need be. If word comes that we actually have a misbehaving bear in the neighborhood, I’ll just grab my trusty 12ga 870 Magnum with its mounted light. I regard my fun-at-the-range AR15 and .357 Mag-loads as too penetrative and ear-shattering for house- and yard-duty. 00 buckshot is devastating enough.

Re: Your go to Home Defense Gun
I always liked an 18" barreled double barrel shotgun because it is short and fool proof. I backed this up with a Glock 19. I also had a short AR. It was easy for my diminutive wife to shoot. With the right ammunition, it would not over penetrate in the house.

Re: Your go to Home Defense Gun
Glock 19 is the primary. I have a girlfriend, dog, and two cats in the home so feel more comfortable with reliable shot placement rather than point and spray from a shotgun.

Mossberg 500 12-gauge, pistol grip with telescoping stock, and a short "breacher" barrel. Not planning on breaching any doors, but it's a nice short barrel, and in a pinch you could hit someone with it. :p

Pretty much whatever I grab out of the safe.
The secret is, I'm gonna come at you completely naked. Nevermind what gun I'm holding and potentially firing at you, when this guy comes down the hallway at you completely naked, you're going to regret the day you were born
But seriously, most likely my M&P 2.0C.
