How about: Spyderco Axiom
Axiom: a general truth widely accepted on its intrinsic merit.
Could refer to the user or the tool . . .

The Spyderco Guru
While we're fantasizing, does anyone else want the Micarta version back? I sure do. Once upon a time I had two, but I gave one to my dad and the other to my brother figuring that I could get another someday. Well, someday still isn't here!! The AUS-8 steel was great, but I could live with VG-10 steel if another run was made.

Whoa there, are we talking FRN or Micarta? I think the Micarta Calypsos were some of the nicest knives Spyderco has made. They have EXCELLENT fit and finish. I hope we can see them in Micarta again, maybe burgundy (NICE)
and PS, how about a large one too -- I NEED one of those

Staying with the original theme, how about the Yeoman. RKBA!

Well since we have Sal thinking of maybe, possibly, hopefully a limited run of Calypso Jnrs, how about combining it with Spyderco's other current series of limited runs, the CF handled limited runs ????
I've reciently tracked down a PE CF Dragonfly. My first thought was "**** this is a great knife", and my second thought was "****, I wish I had a Calypso Jnr CF varient" (PE of course).
If Spyderco wanted to make sure of selling all of a limited run fast, I can't think of a sure'er way.
Like my dad says, "you don't get if you don't ask". I know this is probably a pipe dream, but I thought I would ask anyway <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Sal:
Great idea, but just do what the man suggested. Re-release, abliet limited. The name, Calypos, is fine and it is a classic. Grey is OK. Go for it.

I like Mattsep. Maaattsep. Mmmmmattsep. Mattssssep. Mattsepppp. Nice ring to it! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Or, of course, the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Sword, properly paired with the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Shield would make my day! <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="tongue.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
(look at my handle if you're staring in confusion! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>)
Never underestimate the impossible.

I like the name Calypso. And you gotta keep the scale pattern. How about dark navy blue?

How about the "Kill-a-tron 3000"?
Actually, since it is FRN, and you already have two wildly successful FRN models (Delica, Endura) why not go with the same naming convention?
Here's a few ideas:
Suprema
Potentia
Dextera
Or, you could relate it to one of the other FRN models. You already have the dragonfly, and the ladybug, how about another bug?

How about 'Little claw'? I think that says it all.
I know I have prior use, but I'll happily sign my rights away for a couple of freebies...
I already posted my ideas on BF
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showt ... ost2203478
but I also like 'Axiom' from this thread.

Hi ,Sal, on the calypso my thought is dont change the name , the name is fine and the knife is also very fine. I have a micarta one also and have trouble with the micarta swelling when it is oiled thus making the blade way too tight, but I have 3 with the frn handles and they are great. I like gray for something different . If I could dream a little I would put the clip on the other end with tip up carry as it is much quicker to deploy.. anyway it is a great knife. It is a little powerhouse for sure!

Sal,
How about naming it the Phoenix? Seems kinda fitting as it will (hopefully) being rising from the ashes of its former self. Grey would also seem to be an appropriate color. Just my .02 worth.

I am thinking maybe something sark or fish related, mako is a good one. check out some sort of the more agressive aquarium fish for ideas also.

What about naming it just "X"? Because it's an "ex" model and matches the X-trend in the nowadays industry (MX, XP, FX etc. you know what I'm talking about). It could be followed by Spyderco X-treme, he, he <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

i say you should keep calling it the calypso, unless you bring it back completely, as opposed to a limited run. if you chose to reintroduce it as a new model, i would say that phoenix sounds real good to me. would it be made in golden or japan?

Thank you Sal. That was a long eight months, but well worth the wait!! What a knife.
How has the grey Calypso Jr been received?
It seem to be very popular here, at BladeForums and at BritishBlades.
Once again, thank you, from one happy ELU!!!
