All ball bearings or liner locks

I suppose I need to come to terms with the fact that Spyderco isn't going to design all of their new knives to meet my own personal neurotic preferences :D lulz

Really like the new Mantra. Maybe some day, there will be S110V blade. That would be awsome.

Techno 2 looks sweet. The others aren't too bad either

Again, really into that Mantra 3, seems like it will be a great EDC. Just wish is wasn't S30V, but that won't stop me from getting one.
That Brouwer is pretty cool, but the clip placement ruins it for me. Like the decrease in thickness of the Techno though.

Amalgam looks very interesting. Hopefully not to hard on the wallet.

I think most of these newly-announced models are early enough that we probably won’t see full specs until the Amsterdam Meet in early March.
S30V & CF/G-10 Laminate may seem boring for most of these Taichung folders but if it keeps the price down it’s a plus for all (Spyderco, dealers and customers).
Personally, one of the key attributes to look forward to is the new/improved/CQI flipper actions both in short and long term usage.
- Amalgam CPM-S30V CF/G-10 Laminate (Taiwan)
- Brouwer CPM-S30V Titanium G-10 (Taiwan)
- Mantra3 CPM-S30V CF/G-10 Laminate (Taiwan)
- Smock CPM-S30V CF/G-10 Laminate (Taiwan)
- Techno2 CTS-XHP Titanium (Taiwan)

Anyone else notice Eric's statement that the CF/G10 laminate used on the Mantra 3 was "peel-ply"? It looks like same material that's used on Sliverax and Sage 5 but, from what others have stated here in the past, that's not considered peel-ply. I certainly don't mind the scales on the Sliverax and Sage 5 but they don't really thrill me either. It would be nice if the scales on the Mantra 3 at least had a little more texture to them.

Indeed.
Diametrically opposite too in the two designs demonstrated.
Big fan a BOWIE knives.
Too many digressions/styles/shapes/guards on the “next” Bowie. Not a bad thing.
I feel like a Bowie “needs” to have a guard and be very substantial in blade length, thickness and penetration.

We wanted to make something different and more general use, took my experience in the Marines a long with testing a lot of different big blades from a lot of different makers and came up with the design. The guard always seemed to get in the way when I was out in the field so that was one thing I felt needed to be removed. And with the tall grind the blade can be thinner and the CPM 4V steel makes it incredibly strong and tuff and really cuts down the weight.
Sal's knife is beautiful and goes along with the more traditional Bowie lines.

It’s peel ply. You’re just confused.

The Paysan... oh man. I’m super conflicted. Why the steel lock bar insert?

But at what cost? My Nirvana has lockstick for about a day and then I worked it out. After that it never came back.
