Sorry, the Yen is the name of the Japanese dollar. The Police models are made in Japan and the value of the local money always significantly affects the costs.
A current problem with money exchange rates is the low Yuan (approx 6 - 1) which means that knives made in China are significantly less expensive than knives made in US, Europe, Japan and Taiwan, which are closer to the value of the dollar. It makes it very difficult for countries manufacturing outside of China to compete on a cost basis.
Dollar - US
Yen - Japan
Yuan - China
Taiwan dollar - Taiwan
Euro - Europe.

Sorry Sal.Sometimes I'm quite slow :o I thought is something related to zen :)

I'm excited to see how this pans out. Even a Police 3 in FRN would have my attention, much less a Police 4.

Please give us the old style blade with the swedged tip. Thick blade.
How about a tad bigger spydie hole.

It seems like a ways off before the production sample is unveiled, but I'll bump this thread anyway.
Perhaps Sal and company would be willing to have a production sample "make it out into the wild" for testing like was done with the Stretch 2 or Wharncliffe Delica.

I'd be more than happy to put one up against my Police 3 :)

I'll volunteer if they need a tester!

I would very much like to see an frn version offered in lc200n and added to the Salt line. I have said before that an frn backlock version of the Millie would make a great larger Salt knife. A police 4 in frn sounds pretty close.
--Note, I say lc200n instead of H1 because the pe performance is just so much better.

I have said it, and I agree with you, a backlock Millie would be the best knife, period.

The two screams you just heard was me (in deep joy at the thought of this concept- the classic straight-back Millie blade shape is close to my heart) and the other was my wallet (it's got PTSD triggered when ever it hears me go "Ooh- New Spydie!")

I love the potential "salt" idea of the police 4. Maybe there's room for both, a higher end "regular" steel and a salt in h1 or lc200n?

The only thing I would change about the Military is the lock. I very much prefer back locks over liner locks. This sounds promising. :)

Personally I'd take a bigger Para 2 for the Millie 2. Love the compression lock, tip up, better choil design etc. Millie just fits my hand better and I find longer blades more useful.
Really excited to see the Police 4's blade! Hoping for a straight spine like the Millie!

I have 4 or 5 Police versions but this thread has me interested in the upcoming model. I'm not thrilled about stainless but I can see it's choice in this application. One stainless I have gained respect for is Niolox. It sharpens easy and is fairly tough at the edge though admittedly haven't used it all that hard.

I'm eager to see how the new blade shape turned out. Though I'm also a little anxious, a big part of why I like the Police so much is the shallow belly.
I hope that "more like the Military" means an acute, pointy tip, but also comparatively less belly.
FRN, and a potential Salt versions sound promising for people who don't like the heft of the G-10 version. Anything that keeps the Police relevant to the market is exciting.
