Well alrighty then! :cool:Surfingringo wrote:Now that's some good material sir! For a handle I'd like Moby Dick whale ivory inlaid into titanium scales. Oh and I need it to weigh less than 2 ounces and still be built for hard use, may as well bring the blade in at about 1.21463mm with a full flat grind on one side and a full hollow on the back side, and let's do a tanto hawkbill recurve edge. Let's do a removable lanyard hole too. I'd reeeeally like to keep cost down on this one too so let's ballpark it at or under $100.
Fwiw: I would say the removable lanyard hole should be standard issue on all Spydies, but personally I wouldn't have just thrown that idea out on an open forum where anyone can steal it. Oh well...too late now.
< Edited for unnecessary sarcasm >
I would second Evil D's suggestion.....which then puts his suggestion for the next Forum knife in the lead.
But I also think that the knife should also come equipped with its own tiny little wrecking ball lanyard. I envision this as some braided gold metallic paracord with a small paladium coated "wrecking ball" swinging from the end of it. There should also be a tiny figurine of Miley Cyrus perched atop the ball that would writhe happily back and forth (as she does in her video) as the lanyard swings cheerfully from the user's wrist as they go about their daily work. :D
Oh yeah, I still want to see a lightsaber, that also doubles as an Espresso machine in any future polling that might develop out of this thread........Oh the humanity

I think that there is a good reason for this. There is no good reason to carry a knife without a lock, if you can carry a knife with lock.Liquid Cobra wrote:UKPK!

I love caly3 and used to own Ti, Orange g10, blue FRN and CF UKPK. I have only CF variant now, which decided to keep just in case, if I ever need it.
IMHO the only good about UKPK as a forum knife is the price of FRN model.

Re: 2015 Forum Knife Freestyle Model Nomination
I agree with you about the lock. However, many people here enjoy case knives and other non locking knives even though locking knives are an option to them. I carry locking folders all the time, and understand why people want/need them. I grew to appreciate the SLIPIT design when I started carrying a squeak at work (figured it was friendlier looking to the NKP) but that's when I found out how great they are. You can whip it out of your pocket, make a cut and put it away very quickly because of the lack of a lock. Still, not sure how big of a deal that is if you guys are like me (I'm sure you are) and can be just as quick with any of Spyderco's locking knives.bh49 wrote:I think that there is a good reason for this. I guess I just like them and suggesting it as a forum knife is a selfish way of getting a new model with fancy steel made.

T-Mag
Non-drilled laminated K390/CPM-S125V liners
Chinese-made "stainless surgical steel" blade
CE blade with serrations at tip
Salmon pink Sermollan handle
Integrated clip for left-hand, tip-down only
Thumbstud instead of spyderhole
"Spyderco Forum 2015 Super Tactical Knife Xtreme" engraved on blade with a black widow instead of the usual Spyderco bug
I really like your idea.

Far and away the best idea I've heard yet! I changed my vote from the pm2 to this. I would rather have a 2015 forum t-shirt and then just buy whichever knives I choose to. I'm dead serious on this. Will take care of the flipping problem too. :)The Deacon wrote:Autonomy with an Odin's Eye Damasteel plain edged FFG wharncliffe blade and ivory scales. :D Honestly though, I'm about at the point where I'd rather have a Forum t-shirt.

Ti scales could be an issue, considering that you want to keep price down.

What about a Forum Mug............................in addition to a Forum knife. :)The Deacon wrote: Honestly though, I'm about at the point where I'd rather have a Forum t-shirt.

Still, no better knife for the Forum knife than Native. Must be the reason, why Sal choose it 4 times.

this is not because I love the knife :)

Really? 4? I had no idea. Is that why there hasn't been many requests for the Native in these threads you suppose?bh49 wrote:Still, no better knife for the Forum knife than Native. Must be the reason, why Sal choose it 4 times.

Re: 2015 Forum Knife Freestyle Model Nomination
To echo what's already been said (thanks Kyle and 'gringo), I really like the idea of a 2015 Forum T-Shirt vs. knife. For starters, it would be a heck of a lot easier to produce and would be less costly.
If it *needs* to be a knife then I like the idea of going with a lesser known model. This will help decrease flipping and will yet be special for the die-hard Spydie fan. (Something like the UKPK or even a Catcherman similar in style to the USN Catcherman).
Or, we could always just go with David's hybrid-uber cool high-tech folder too. :p Although I suspect it's gonna' run more like $125 vs. $100.

I vote for a Roadie, so everyone everywhere can have and use one, and not go broke.

Hi-five SpyderNut, I've been beating the niche model drum quite a bit. A classic yet quirky model with some aesthetic updates is just the thing for the forum knife. Looking back on past ones, they used the Lava, the Vesuvius, and the Adventura, which were certainly not mainstream best-sellers. A roadie, if they could do something interesting with the handle, or perhaps a non-standard color, would definitely fit the bill.SpyderNut wrote:To echo what's already been said (thanks Kyle and 'gringo), I really like the idea of a 2015 Forum T-Shirt vs. knife. As for a shirt, if I'm going to be covering up my chiseled physique, it has to be well designed. The days of t shirts that really should have been posters is hopefully behind us. I actually think a spydie that wrapped around the right or left side torso (a la upcoming Pingo sprint) would work well as a shirt.

Re: 2015 Forum Knife Freestyle Model Nomination
The Roadie is a knife I never even looked twice at but I would absolutely support something like that for a forum knife. I like where this thread is going. The forum knife should be something more than just a bunch of folks clamoring to get some engraving on their favorite model. Seems that way to me anyway.Liquid Cobra wrote:Great idea!Jazz wrote:I vote for a Roadie, so everyone everywhere can have and use one, and not go broke.
Re: 2015 Forum Knife Freestyle Model Nomination
I think I'm with most in saying that in the end I'd be happy with any model, especially considering this would be my first forum knife... but for the purpose of this thread I'd love to see a serrated Dodo!
Re: 2015 Forum Knife Freestyle Model Nomination
T-shirt. By a mile.
Mug a distant second.
If the forum knife has to be a knife, and we are headed down the quirky path I will keep banging the drum for the dodo. I forgot who suggested it first but it hits the highlights: golden made, unique spydie design, spydie lock, In house design.

I'd love to see a Catcherman in H-1.

That is brilliant! I love the idea of a wrap-around T-shirt logo--especially if on a white T-shirt. Maybe someone savvy in the art of Photoshop could draw us up a sample of what this would look like?tvenuto wrote:Hi-five SpyderNut, I've been beating the niche model drum quite a bit.
