I picked up a nice display case wich I think looks great for the Spydies :)
2 drawers that go all the way and a top display part with a wood and glass top.
The picture doesn't show the full drawers, but you get the idea

I use a Plano fishing tackle box.

Ditto on the Plano fishing tackle boxes. I have just a few that won't fit (Zulu, Manix2, etc.), but most do, and the length of the compartments can be adjusted. They are transparent, which is handy. Very inexpensive and readily available from Amazon.com, too.

All I see are knives, where are the cases?

Some really cool setups here, and even more impressive collections. Mine are just in a drawer under my bed, but I've been trying to think of something better. A nice lined wooden box maybe? Like a cigar box? My collection isn't very big, somewhere in the teens.

Or you could just use the chaos method of storage.

con: The lock could easily be broken
Pros: the drawers are easy to organize and are felt lined.

The case has held up really well. This was an older picture, almost the entire case in Spyderco now and I purchased a smaller case for my traditionals and gents Spydies (Kiwi, Kopa, Ladybugs, Air, Jesters, Etc.)

^^^ Hans, THAT is a dedicated case. When you carve out the foam for the clip, you have specifically allotted that space for that specific knife and clip position. It is a very clean look though! When you travel, do you take the case(s)?

Lets just say I do not sell knives often. A knife has to earn its right to get a spot in the case.

I do not travel with these cases, but it is nice to have the option !

I like spyderderpac's for the knives...first thought an eighteen would be enough, got two thirty's since then...boxes boxed in shed.

Guy's, you have some wonderful collections and I really love the storeage ideas, but when you have the amount of knives pictured here, I would suggest putting your wooden boxes, tool boxes, pelican cases in a safe and secure it to the floor.

I can't think of anything worse than an entire collection stolen in seconds by some crap walking away with a big box of knives. Years of collecting, searching, bidding, going to shows, trading and all the within a box, the one you treasure the most --all gone forever.

Keep them in the nice cases you have, but some of you have thousands invested, and they are an investment as years later we can sell them.

Do your self a favor, invest in a $500 safe. I have one that takes a key and has the dial, that is a jeweler's safe. The owner opens the safe with the combo in the morning, then issues these large keys to the employees, so they can lock and un lock the safe during the day. Mine is bigger than a refrigerator, and when I spin the dial, and turn that key, and hear all the rods bang shut in the steel,I leave with no worries. Then I put the key in a smaller safe.

Plus you can store all kinds of other value able things in there. Your jewelry, guns, ammo,important papers and never worry.

Hope this helps and I also hope it may help some of you to never loose your collections. We forget that we have a lot of Money tied up in these things.

Plus you could add a big Spyderco logo to the front of the door! Also, you can have the safe company customize the unit to your specs. For $1000.00 you will have a lifetime piece of gear that will work for you around the clock, and will last several lifetimes in your family.

And just so you know, I do not sell safes, or have any connections to companies that do, I just think every house should have one of some kind safe for family secrets.

Remember, there is always fire to destroy our collections.

You did very well with that purchase Brother That looks to be a machinist's tool box and that is a great choice to be sure. I would eventually like to snag something like that my own self. Most of my "user arsenal" that I rotate on a continual basis is put up in zipper pouches and many of them I got from Spyderco with Spydie's picture on it. Spyderco zipper cases do make a really nice, convenient place to keep your EDC folders and they really protect them as well.

I keep my collector pieces in a footlocker I've had for years and it's built like a bank vault and has very solid construction. I have totally separate storage for all my sharpening equipment and I keep most of those tools in a machinist's tool box similar to the one you have there.

I would eventually like to get some type of a storage chest similar to the old cedar chests of years gone by. That way if I have to ever bug out it will be easy to take everything all in one move. Storage and preservation are truly important items to consider if you're going to get into knife using, collecting and maintaining. Good thread!
