Insanity or just average hardcore spyderco fan?
Some knives I consider in the realm of "holy" are the Benchmade 42,and a Bob Loveless Riverside double nude/nude,drop point hunter.
But I treat all my knives with a great love.
For me a Spyderco Grail is a M4 Or S90v Military.
Also have a yearning for a 440v,BG-42,ATS -34 Military.
But to the Op,I am glad you got something you love.

I have 4 or 5 Spyderco grails...
World Trade Center
C27 Jess Horn
Swiss-made Walker
PM2 S90V/CPM-154
2-screw Worker
Of course, there are others, like the 25th anniv. Delica and the Damascus Evolution Set.
I've already got the WTC and C27, with a combined total of about $650. If I've got the money, there really isn't a "limit," at least to a point. Right now, I've spent so much that I'm just about out of spending money, so those last couple of grails may take awhile.
And then if we're talking grails beyond the realm of Spyders, then I need another Kressler. A friend gifted me one a while ago, and ever since, I've wanted another. With Kresslers/Lovelesses/etc., you quickly go up in price...really, really, really fast.

Has your Southfork arrived yet? If so, then let us know what do you think of it after using it a bit.....especially with some of those nice photos that you usually post showing your knives in use on some monster fish.Surfingringo wrote:Everyone is different, but personally I hate the idea of buying a knife that I'm not going to use and if I pay too much for a knife then i might not enjoy using it. EvilD said something I related to recently about this. Can't find the quote, but something about how the more expensive the knife, the more sure he has to be the he will actually get a lot of use out of it before buying it. Whatever...it sounded better the way he said it.
Anyway, I just paid $240 for a southfork. I have never paid that much money for a knife before but I am going to use it on my kayak, at the fish cleaning table and in the kitchen, so I am relatively certain it will see a ton of use. I just hope I like it.
As far as the $721 for a s90v pm2. If you are a collector and that brings you joy and you can afford it then go for it. People spend a lot more on other hobbies. Lord, imagine if you were into golf!![]()

I will pick it up when I go to the states next month. It's all about delayed gratification when you aren't in the u.s.ManixFan wrote:Has your Southfork arrived yet? Some time ago, I purchased a Phil Wilson Shelter Cove CPM154. Tis truly a thing of beauty. It was pricey but will last my lifetime, and yes I'm thankful to have it. When it's gifted to my son, I hope he appreciates it for what it is. I still have the Randall fillet knife my father gifted me, over 30 years ago. While very nice, as a fillet knife, not even in the same realm as the Phil Wilson. I always thought of the Para 2 S90v as being my grail, guess I was wrong. Surfgringo you will love the Southfork. A classic multi-purpose knife,

Green PM2 from Knifeworks?.........you lucky gringo you! :DSurfingringo wrote:I will pick it up when I go to the states next month. It's all about delayed gratification when you aren't in the u.s.On a positive note, I have a buddy arriving on the 27th with two knives I bought MONTHS ago and haven't even seen yet! Military DLC combo edge and a green pm2 from knifeworks! :)
I tried to get in on the 400 piece run and left my email address after also being a prior customer for a couple of pricey knives at KW but I guess I was too far down the list for the second run. I haven't yet got a PM2 and don't really know what the fuss is about that elevates it to a greater desirability status than a Manix 2 but I figured that I would grab at least one before passing judgement. I have held it in a local store and they are nice and light but I think the grip on the Manix 2 is more advanced in ergos. The green PM 2 would also have been a nice one to snag with a steel that is basically the same as M390 and in a nicer colour than the other choice of smurf blue. The Elmax wouldn't be bad either but BentoBox overprices their exclusives and then kills you on shipping as well. I've been thinking of a Military but have decided that the tip down carry is too much for me to deal with and I will just wait for the Military 2 to be released to try out a similar platform.
I hope you enjoy your new PM2 and I look forward to your future pics with the PM2 and the Southfork doing real work. Cheers! :)

If I can't ride it hard and put it up wet without too much trouble I'm not so interested...so no grails per se for me. Give me the the solid workhorses and I'm happy. I do wish some of the sprintier steels didn't command so much on the second market because I would give them a work out they would not soon forget.

Yes sir, that's pretty much how I feel about it all. I do like that they made a lot of those green pm2s and we were able to grab them for under $150. That's definitely a "user sprint".ginsuwarrior wrote:If I can't ride it hard and put it up wet without too much trouble I'm not so interested...so no grails per se for me. ats34 military
Fleabay has an ats34 military fully serrated up with two days left with current bid @ 134.50. Looks to be nice shape, claimed store display. I found one of the two screw fully black military a few years ago in a store as a display model and sold it off later when I needed moneyJax wrote:Some knives I consider in the realm of "holy" are the Benchmade 42,and a Bob Loveless Riverside double nude/nude,drop point hunter.

My initial reaction is that I would never pay $750 for a knife, but then I've paid over $1300 for a kayak, and have seriously looked at a ProAngler Kayak that runs $2500-3000. If it's something that you want, and not immoral or illegal, and you can afford it (even if living on Raman noodles/rice/beans for a few weeks :) ) then why not.
A few weeks ago I came across a dealer (don't remember which one right now) that had another CF/S90V PM2 for around $495 and I didn't pick it up.
But when I look at all the Spydies that I *have* purchased (some inexpensive like $7 Bugs, some *not* so inexpensive like Ti Chaparral 3 and fluted Ti Military's and Native's) so maybe if they averaged $100/knife, my 240-ish Spydies adds up.

Which Knife, A or B? get Both! (and C, D and E) :)
