Not to hijack this thread but is this spyderco's first foray into chisel grind blades?

Hmm. I believe it might be. Can't think of any others at the moment...

Is this meant to be an actual dog tag that doubles as a knife? If it is, I want one. What a great way to carry a back up blade if you have a dog. Hope it has a locking mechanism of some kind so it can't injury the dog if it accidentally opens up. H1 steel would be great if the pooch likes to swim.

Think it's intended to be worn by you, like a military dog tag. It's listed as a slip joint, but appears to be a non locking ball detent knife. However, the blade is only 1.2" long, so there's probably not enough mass to cause kinetic opening. FWIW, my Pekingese carries a Bug along with his rabies and ID tags.

That's pretty awesome, Paul. My little 5 lb Maltese puppy carries a Millie. :D

Got one direct from Spyderco, very cool little knife. In the documentation that comes with it, it mentions a black-ti finish version, with a small picture. Looks AWESOME, can't wait for that version!!!!

Can anyone tell me it's dimensions closed? L x W x H spyderco doesn't really have everything and I am curious with its overall width closed among it all. Hopefully some comparison pictures show up soon too :)

Hey Stugots-II,
I just got mine today.
Closed, it measures: L- 2", W- 7/32", H- 1 1/8". Width at the pivot looks like about 11/32.

Hope this helps!

Nice writeup on Serge Panchenko and the Spyderco Dog Tag Folder in the August 2014 Spyderco Byte.

The latest spyderco byte says it'll come in black too.

It's not an exclusive or a sprint so most/all dealers should get it.

Understood, just surprised that knife center was shipping, they seem to take longer than most.

I saw it up a SFO today. Really cool little knife. Not as cool as the Worker Sprint that I got though. Their last one there. ;)

Oh gotcha. I though the "or all places" was a question instead "of all places".

Could anyone confirm if the backstrap and pivot ring are indeed Ti? I've heard some people say hard anodized aluminum. It doesnt really behave as anodized Ti in my experience either.

I'd be interested to hear a definitive answer on this too. I usually anodize most of my Titanium items, so I'd like to know before mine arrives. The latest BYTE newsletter says Ti, but the youtube intro with Eric, says aluminum.
