Agree x 1000^3. I *never* understood that!

I think I might like to see a SB Calypso sprint to go along with last year's brown G10 VG-10 sprint. G10 color could be light grey to match the other Caly sprints, or something like the dark blue or green G10 (although I'd still also like to see that dark blue SB Police 3...). Not sure another VG-10 Caly 3 does much for me, Sal and co did disco it for a good reason (I hope!).

OMG yes! SB Caly jr would become an instant top 3 knife for me

I'm with ya, Roman. I'd be perfectly happy with VG10 but wouldn't mind another stainless steel (not ZDP though). Dark blue or dark green have my vote for the scales.

I'm almost in for any Caly 3 sprint. :)
The Japanese M4 equivalent is XVC-11.
And I would be in for any colored VG-10 Caly 3. Great utility knife in such a small package, and one of the best slicers Spyderco makes outside of the kitchen knives

Too long, also I strongly prefer stainless steel blades.
swigert wrote:I would prefesomething other than vg10 but that's just me. With so many great Japanese steels why do vg10 for a sprint?
What steels do you propose?

I always thought that Sage, which is about the same price and offers some similar features, but has CF scales vs. G10 contributed to the drop of Caly3 out off production. I can be wrong. I strongly prefer VG10 Caly3 to Sage, but how many more people like me?

Maybe. Would depend more on the steel than the color, for me. Something different but one that takes a very refined edge. Not as interested in VG10, I have plenty of that. Honestly, it would be very hard to top the Super Blue I already have.
But if the demand is there, sure, go for it.

How about while we're at it, we get a Caly 4 - deeper choil like the UKPK.

Nah, nothing against the idea though. I just know that because I already own a Caly 3 CF, I won't be buying a 3 VG10 G10. I would like to pick up a version of the 3.5 at some point.

XVC-11 or some other interesting steel + colored G10 would be interesting. If it is black G10 and VG10, count me out. Ideal for me? XVC-11 or Super Blue with blue or green G10.

Count me in on that thought, IMHO the Caly 3 is head and shoulders above the Sage series. My back-up Caly 3 G10 was gifted to my brother in-law years ago. I carry the ZDP/CF version as it is easily replacable but I still use my VG-10 version. I actually don't mind the smooth CF on that as it doesn't tear up pants but I would be very happy about colored G10 replacing the smooth CF on that version. I may have to spring for the 3.5 version even though the 3 is perfect sized for my uses.
The Damascus and SB versions are fantastic but I much prefer stainless steels on my folders.

I strongly prefer stainless steel. Out of all Japanese stainless, which Spyderco currently is using, VG10 is my favorite. I will have no problem to try new Japanese steel. I just do not see anything more attractive in Spyderco line-up. I wish Moki could use solid ZDP-189, but the last I heard that Moki doesn't have such capabilities. I would love to see Caly3 with quite a few American steels, but it doesn't look like that this is going to happen.

I'd buy one, but I'd probably buy two if it was polished G-10 instead of peel-ply.

Paul,
I love polished G10. I am with you on this. But we are in super minority here. Smooth Giraffe bone Caly3 will be my dream knife. :) I wish I can find a maker who can put Giraffe bone scales on one of my Caly3.

I would love some polished G10 and am planning to gently sand down one of my user Caly 3's to try to reach that effect myself (been thinking about that since someone posted a pic of theirs recently). If Sal could do it for us, I'd buy several! :)
