I use the WE to reprofile. Sharpmaker if I need a quick microbevel (not often). Otherwise I use a Stropman HD compact with black and white compound, a Knivesplus stropblock with green compound, and a kangaroo leather strop with half micron diamond spray on it.

Hey man, it all comes with time. I'm definitely not some expert, and I still learn stuff everyday. The forum is a great place to accelerate this process

I started with the Gatco clamp system (like Lansky) before they were available in diamond. Then I moved to the DMT Aligner because I liked the portable appeal as well as the diamond stones that work without oil. I like the consistency the guided systems give me for long tedious re-profiles, but for pure enjoyment I decided to move to a freehand option. My wife purchased me the 8"x2" Spyderco benchstone trio set last year for our anniversary. I get very good results with the freehand method, I think I would buy a better guided system if I could decide between the EP or the WE.

I have many options for sharpening Spyderco knives. Anything from a ceramic mug up to a 2"x72" belt grinder. I do use the Sharpmaker a lot. Even on serrated edges. :)

I use a sharp maker for touchup work, and freehand most of the time for kitchen knives and if I need to do a serious reprofile effort.
