Haven't spent enough time with any other brands to say, I know an Opinel needs to be bought.

Spyderco
Mora
CRKT
Benchmade (have to give props for the mini grip and having production knives in M390)
Surprised there's so little love for Mora here. Best price/function value in a blade I've found.

by Henry - get both
I like most Spyderco knives. I cant say that about any other production folding knife company.
Individual knives that I like from other companies include the CRK Sebenza 25, Benchmade 710, Cold Steel Tri-Ad recon one, and Microtech Socom Delta.

1.) spyderco of course
2.) Victorinox SAK
3.) letherman multitool
4.) kershaw/ cold steel
5.) benchmade I only have one and I'm not that big of a fan of it so it's usually in the suit case for when I travel, so if I loose it to TSA or anything I'm not to heart broken over it.

The knives I carry are:
Spyderco Caly 3.5
Case Drop Point Russlock both one hand openers
The knives I collect:
Case Canoe, Sway back Jack and Gent, 087 Pen and Jack, Drop Point Russlock. The Drop Point Russlock will perform any task you need a knife to do from cleaning under your nails to skinning a buck. I wish Spyderco made something with a blade like that.

1-Spyderco
2-Hattori - I only own kitchen knife from him but **** the nice knife!
3-Zero Tolerance
And in the "I crave to get one but won't ever be able to afford one" category:
1 - Yuna Knife (For the look, ergonomics, build quality, awesomeness, steel quality)
2 - William Henry (For the look, built quality, steel quality and heat treatment)

1. Spyderco hands-down winner for folder innovation, egronomics, & utility
2. Busse for fixed blade excellence...KaBar...more affordable 1095 honorable mention
3. Case Tested XX for traditional slip joint folders like Dad used to carry...this is a beloved category for me...these type of tools first opened my eyes to the usefulness of an EDC knife...without them I would have never ventured into Spyderco.
