You can really tell those are early prototype pics, if you look close at the quality of the thumb hole, it isn't quite round and looks pretty rough.RadioactiveSpyder wrote:Here's Wouter's webpage for the large Kiwi:

From his page (plus fixed those silly European comma decimal points):
"The Kiwi G-10 Concept Model measured as follows:
Blade Length: 7.5 cm / 2.95 inch
Overall Length: 17.1 cm / 6.7 inch"
Maybe he could post the pics to this thread, but I don't just want to grab them and put them up without his permission... Hopefully you are OK with me linking the site address Wouter :) .
Large Kiwi G10 ETA?

There was a working proto at blade. It is a very nice, slim gents knife.D1omedes wrote:Same here. I think that design fits nicely with a wire clip. It is so close in general to a Caly 3 that Moki should definitely be successful in getting a working prototype done.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

Maybe there's hope then for something other than plain jane black G10 for it, maybe a nice grey G10, nishijin or some of the CF/GF twills they use on the Air, Memory, etc.Evil D wrote:You can really tell those are early prototype pics, if you look close at the quality of the thumb hole, it isn't quite round and looks pretty rough.

I don't have a delivery date yet.
Plain Jane black-peel ply G-10. Full flat 3" VG-10. Wire clip. Mid lock-back.
This model was inspired by a discussion on the forum. We made samples of both jigged bone and g-10, notched spine and sloped spin, both wharnies. Made in Seki by the original Kiwi maker. Both samples were quite expensive, but the jigged bone version was quite a bit more so we decided to try the one model first (G-10) and then go from there.
The Kiwi Slip-joint was made to serve that market. 2 hand open, non locking. (laws in Europe and New York are moving in that direction). That combined with the high price of the production Kiwi models and slowing sales dictated a change. The new model is for that gents folder 3" urban carry.

Hi Sal, please don't take any offense at my lame "plain jane" comment three posts before yours, it certainly wasn't meant to be taken in the negative. If I wasn't such a fan of black G10, I wouldn't have dyed my Manbug black as a fitting companion to my all-time favorite, my Caly 3.5:sal wrote: Plain Jane black-peel ply G-10. Full flat 3" VG-10. Plus the other 20 or so odd black G10 knives I have from your company certainly speak to my fondness for the color (well, black is technically a lack of color - sorry, science geek here). I've also resisted several times in the last few weeks to drop my Southard scales into a vat of black RIT dye. So bring on the black Kiwi, and have a fantastic Labor Day holiday (then back to work Tuesday and release that CPM Cruwear Millie!)!! :) Paul

Glad to hear it's getting a wire clip. Let me be first to say sorry to The Deacon, I know he would rather it came without a clip at allsal wrote: Plain Jane black-peel ply G-10. Full flat 3" VG-10. Wire clip. Mid lock-back.

Is it too soon to ask for MSRP? I really have a feeling this knife is going to become my go to EDC work knife. I envision carrying this in my right front pocket and something bigger/beefier like a Military or something in my back right pocket next to my wallet.

It doesn't get any better than that. Perfect for me! Thanks sal. Hopefully it's the deep carry wire clip like on the Caly 3.5. If not thats cool too though. Man, I really need a Caly 3.5 lol.sal wrote:Plain Jane black-peel ply G-10. Full flat 3" VG-10. Wire clip. Mid lock-back.

Hmmm.. I'd much rather jigged bone, a bit smaller, no clip, and a slip-joint. Still, I love the Kiwi design so I may have to get one.
As an aside, I'm surprised to hear that people feel that the chinese-made slipjoint Kiwi can't be opened one-handed?
I have a very nice stag handled one that opens one handed much like my other Spydies. A bit more resistance, but not much.
