You should do a side-by-side picture of the spine of a Superleaf and a Para 2.
It's tough to see how special this is when there is nothing to compare it to.

I couldn't ignore it any longer. Arrived this a.m. and is a heckuva deal.
Will agree it is a shame to ignore. Get em while you can or wait for what may be a sprint. I'd take another for sure.

Nice review. I passed on it only because I have many wide flat ground models and my collection was beginning to look a bit redundant. However kudos to Spyderco for the deep pocket carry clip on a large model.

I purchased a Superleaf when they became discontinued. For me i would carry the Manix XL before the superleaf. The Manix has better steel and feels better in my hand. That being said my brother prefers the feel of the superleaf to the manix xl. I'm glad Spyderco makes many different designs. It makes everyone happy :D

The Superleaf is my current favorite Spyderco! I held off ordering one because I already have two Manix2 G10s, a Manix XL, and blue Lightweight so I thought it might overlap those, but the Superleaf has such a nice thick blade and the action on it is great.
I'm glad I got one (and a backup one) before they disappeared!

I still hate the choil, but prefer the Superleaf to the Para. Call me crazy but just not the biggest Para fan. I might try the Superleaf again sometime, but it justs needs more cutting edge is all I remember before trading it. The Caly 3.5 has kinda spoiled me with cutting edge to blade size ratio. It is the porn star of the Spyderco line up!

It's a great woods knife. That big 'ole slab of VG-10 sandwiched between full steel liners, coupled with the comp lock, just screams for a little bush crafting. Personally, I tightened the pivot on mine to where it won't flip, but that just gives it an even beefier feel. Coupled with my ESEE 6, there's nothing I can't handle when backpacking.

I'm not a huge fan of flipping, and my SL pivot is set just right. Such a great knife. :)
I'm not sure if it is just me, but I feel safer using a knife with a choil on it.

Thanks for the review - another one added to the "if I find a good deal maybe I should snag one" list. Not that I need another big leaf-shaped blade, but I want one :P

The best deals to be had are happening right now! Wait much longer and supply will dry up and it will become more expensive. No free shipping at STP with a minimum order. True there's a 35% off link in their newsletter right now, but shipping is over $10. Their best coupon for Spydercos, is the 35% off plus $0.99 shipping with no minimum purchase. That's the one I'm waiting for at the moment to grab a Chokwe.

I got mine from "that auction site" for $90 shipped. I usually prefer to shop from an established shop, but some of the businesses on there offer really discount prices. (Maybe because they do not have as much overhead?)

One of the retailers on there had about fifteen at that price. I bought one thinking if I liked it I would buy another, but before it arrived, they were down to two of them, so I picked up a backup before they were gone. I plan on using them like crazy! :)

I think it sucks. Just not enough cutting edge. No need for a handle that large AND a choil. The cutting edge is 2.8".
