If the liners are skeletonized, grinding into them (more like through them) could create a lot of wobble or flex in the scales, so watch for that.

If you press at 90 degrees from the pivot, is the problem still there? I have a lot of different styles of knives, on knives like the HEST folder, it seems like you have to press in a different direction to get it to open.

There are several knives that I own that don't make it 100% open on the first try, usually a small swing (maybe a few inches) while opening will get the blade where it needs to go. I don't consider it cheating if getting the knife open is critical like in a SD situation. I just have to pay attention to which ones need it and which ones don't.

Pressing straight towards the pivot seems to work best for me. It's the direction that will allow me the most skin contact with the hole.

Sorry for the late reply Chuck. Following this thread closely so that I am ready for when I get one. It's good to learn something new.

I just got my Yo2 and was concerned about the hole not being fully exposed. I just tried DC's middle finger flip technique and it works really well. I like that you dont have to rotate the knife it your hand after it is opened.
