I think that the Para 2 is one of the best all-around designs by Spyerco. I like the size, weight, ergonomics, choil, blade shape, locking mechanism and materials (especially the exotic steel variants). It carries well and can be useful to a very wide array of tasks, from light to heavy duty. I have plenty of really great knives but find myself carrying a Para 2 variant most often since I got them.

I don't have a Yo2. I think it is a really great looking knife. Based on what my needs are and what I tend to like in ergos and carry, I'm not sure that the Yo2 would be for me. I have come close to buying one about 8 times now, and keep talking myself out of it.

thanks guys. I've got the spydie bite again and looking at these 2 knives. I saw the mike Janich dvd and that got me thinking about the Yojimbo, but I'm used to the stretch ergros and the Para 2 has that plus the compression lock is stronger from what I read. Spyderco makes it so hard with so many good knives.

I think it definitely comes down to what you like. The Stretch makes a fine regular purpose knife, and the Yo2 would be good for dedicated SD - but as has been pointed out above, it doesn't make everyone happy. I can look at it and see that hammer and Filipino grip should be solid for it, and if you're looking to base your SD training on Mike J's MBC methods, it should be great. However, it is not for everyone, and the Para2 would be more intuitive based on what you have now. If you are looking for a big difference and/or looking to train on mechanical cuts based on the MBC method, the Yo2 will quite likely make you happy. Otherwise, I don't think I've heard anyone say that they disliked the Para2.

I think I'm going to get the para 2 first.
