Okay, here we go again.

If Nutnfancy is soooo not liked, I wish that others would do better reviews. For info, there are worse reviews out there.

For a beginner like myself, I think he's great. If I knew what some of you guys did perhaps I'd find what he does blah but guys like him get guys like me going.

Nutnfancy has a nice camera and a decent personality for reviews. He even has a budget for new gear and massive fanbase. Shame he doesn't do more reading and organizing his his thoughts.

Long ago in speech class the teacher told us if you take the podium you have to respect it. You have a captive audience and are speaking from a position of authority. Don't waste people's time as it's a valuable commodity.


PS: This is constructive feedback, not trashin him. Trust me.

Well, let me clarify....
There is no doubt that NutnFancy is EXTREMELY knowledgeable with BOTH knifes and firearms, he know what he is talking about. Its his presentations
that come across as childish and immature, more like a grade school kid. "Yo dudes, this is a sick knive!" I mean come on, what mid-thirty year old
man really talks like that?
There are dozens of equally knowledgeable You Tube knive reviewers that give a much more mature, professional review that are much easier to
listen to.

I really like the Manix 2 Translucent blue I have 2 of them as well As a G-10 Sprint run and The EDC Moon Glow (1st one I purchased). I'd like to see more colors in this one.

I returned mine just because of the video.

But they're not all as popular because he is the way he is. I'm not saying that what you said doesn't have merit, it absolutely does and you're right he speaks to a young audience as a younger person would but look at his popularity. With the dozen or so others out there that are just as knowledgeable covering the same topics he's by far most popular. The only thing any of us can assume, whether we like him or not, is for the majority... he's doing something right.

Edit: I would say this as well. How has a company like Spyderco faired because of guys like him and their doting reviews on these knives? He got me really interested to pull the trigger on some knives and I've spent well over 2k (God help me) in 3 months. His interview with Sal, to a guy like me, was a great insight into the company and the man at the head of the table. Looking at some of the other "new" collections I'd bet NutnFancy had some influence in those buying decisions as well.

For the record I also like NeptuneKnives on YouTube and he's so damned critical I'm surprised he likes any knife though still he's interesting. He tore apart the Military's, I listened and still bought 5 and looking to suck it up for my 6th.

The best part of the interwebz is that there is something for everyone but if it makes Spyderco a stronger company we should all accept that as a positive.

Two reasons why I won't consider buying this knife.

Pinned construction
An adjustable pivot screw would have been awesome on this knife.

Closed BB lock
If only this knife had the Dodo type of BB lock.

Just my two reasons.

I had the thought BD1 was just ok in the edge department, from what he says it's around and near VG10 and I love VG10. I don't have any Manix 2's, I do have the large and small Manix 1's, they are quite heavy and I didn't carry them much.
I must rethink the Manix Blue.

Yea I completely agree with this and I was just joking around on the "14 year old boy" thing since I am 14 :D

I don't have an opinion on this but let's just say his edge holding opinion wasn't exactly scientific. Well, maybe the last TEN MINUTES of his video goes into this in detail but I've never made it all the way thru a nutnfancy video and I'm not starting today.

It's good to have your preferences but any specific reasoning?

I prefer the open ball for looks but deal with the closed one. Pinned knives (IMHO) don't have much of a disadvantage.

No intent to grill ya, just curious. :)

Seriously, though - I watch Nutn's videos quite a bit. He annoys me to no end - but his practical experience-based knowledge of products is really useful. I always learn something about the product after watching, like 23 minutes of jammin' on the boss-rad knife, dude!

Boy, it's true, Haters gonna hate.

First off, I already had the Manix2 Translucent before he posted his hiking videos showing it and it has been my EDC blade since I bought it, I love it.

I don't really mind his humor or his maturity, it is much better than the monotone reviews we see all over youtube.

I do like the fact that he *USES* the gear he reviews, much of it for months before he tapes the review, most of the other reviews out there start out with: "I just got this 5 minutes ago, and wow!"... The fact that he stabbed this knife in the snow overnight to test the corrosion resistance makes him a good reviewer in my book, not many are doing much more than the "cardboard test". He also reminds you that he is just showing you what he is seeing, "data points", the good, the bad, and the ugly of his experiences and not trying to sell it as fact. He will also tell you if something is crap and has saved me money not buying a buttstock for a shotgun I was interested in.

He probably uses his knives more than 95% of the people that have replied to this thread, I know he uses them a ton more than me, many here probably don't do more than cut up an apple or open their mail and cut up that random cardboard box, not because they have to, but just because it is fun. (I forgot to add the constant flipping the knife open and closed over and over while watching youtube videos)

And for the jimping haters, I welcome jimping, any added traction on the knife or blade, especially in wet, slippery conditions makes a big difference!

I just wish I had the gear he has and the time he has to test it! :)
