A little Leafstorm love
I don't get the bad ergos stuff. The ergos aren't as nice as a Stretch, but then few are. However, mine works just fine in my medium-sized hands. I haven't had any issues with my Leafstorm in the 3+ years that I've used it.

Hey guys,
I'm here in the great smokey mts. this weekend celebrating my 23rd wedding anniverary.
I stopped by smokey mnt. knife works yesterday, and got to handle a leafstorm for the first time.
I'm sold on this little big knife.
Ergo's seemed fine for my small hand, and f&f seemed top notch.
I passed on it at the store because of the price, but will probably get one when i get back home and research the best deal.
From a quick search, it seems poorfish has the best price.
I did pick up a black on black tenacious, a grasshopper, and a bug lapel pin though.
Later,
Don

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, even if it is wrong.
I've never handled one, so I can't testify to the ergo issue. But some guys say they've accidentally nicked themselves more with the Leafstorm than any other knife. If you look at it, it does seem like the back end of the blade --- the "beard," I think it's called -- is awfully close to where your index finger would rest. Maybe I've just been spoiled by my Spydies with choils. I likes me my choils. One interesting comment was by someone who said they understood the knife when they discovered the designer is a graphic artist by training, i.e., it looks fabulous, but leaves a little something to be desired in the hand. Like I said, I can't say from firsthand experience, just reporting what others have said. God, I love the way that knife looks. Peace out, all.

Seems he started out as a graphic designer but switched to knives in 2002:

It's understandable not all designs will jive with all users but I do think it was a conscious decision. I really like the aesthetic though as well :) .

Am i the only person here who think the Techno looks a lot like the Leaf Storm? so the things about the LS that turn people off--justifiably or otherwise--will also be present in the Techno? Although the blade doesn't seem to drop down as much in the back in the Techno.

Does anyone know if Spyderco keeps stock of clips from discontinued models? I guess I can give them a call to see. I should have a Leaf Storm waiting for me in the mailbox when I get home today (along with the black micarta Persian 75mm which I'm super stoked about), and I want to change the clip out to something that better fits the knife.

This knife to me looks like its a high tech tool from some futuristic sci-fi story.
Thanks for them great photos. What I noticed on other forums was that this knife appeals a lot to designers in various fields. I mean apart from normal knife knuts.
I want one. But I won't buy one unless I can hold it in my hand. Have a feeling that the Leafstorm will be too small for my hand.
Again, thanks for these cool pics.

Leatherneck, I posted a thread asking you how you liked your new Leaf Storm and promptly received a reprimand from someone about some sort of forum etiquette (???). So anyway, I'm trying again to see how you like the Leaf Storm now that you've had a chance to use it for a while.

I like it quite a bit. I wanted it on & off for a very long time and don't regret picking it up at all. It's flat out cool & unique. Light as a feather and quite useful at work as well. While I have not been cut by the blade, the kick/heel will catch string and such if you run it that far down the blade.tr4022 wrote:Leatherneck, I posted a thread asking you how you liked your new Leaf Storm and promptly received a reprimand from someone about some sort of forum etiquette (???). Great, thanks a lot for the input. I keep telling myself to keep away from this knife because of the ergos "controversy," but I can't seem to stay away, I always seem to come back again to see what folks have to say. Appreciate the response.Leatherneck wrote:I like it quite a bit. I wanted it on & off for a very long time and don't regret picking it up at all. It's flat out cool & unique. Btw just buy it already ha ha .
I was in the same shoes for a long time. I wasn't crazy about grind, ergos and price. All my doubts disappeared, when I was able to handle one. I found out that in real life the knife is cute, ergos acceptable, especially considering that this is small knife. Pricewise, I waited for couple month until I found NIB for $126. Last week I bought second. :)tr4022 wrote:I keep telling myself to keep away from this knife because of the ergos "controversy," but I can't seem to stay away,
