Oh yeah,I do remember that old song.I`m sure this is going to be something good coming down the pike in the hawkbill plans. It`s definitely time to start a new thread on this,I`m with you.JD Spydo wrote:YES!!! Lord Vader  :D I am reading this. It kind of reminds me of an old Country & Western Song my dad used to play>> it was entitled "RUB it IN, RUB IT IN
Yeah dude you're a member of the "I GOT MINE CLUB" aren't you  :D
Don't worry ol' buddy I'm getting my postal money order ready today. Maybe it's GOD's way of equiping me with an arsenal of Super-Hawkbills for a rainy day yet to come.
Yes there definitely is a Silver Lining inside this sudden dark cloud
But again if they are going to do the Spyderhawk in VG-10 again or maybe even make them available in one of the Super-Steels then I'll be able to forgive them. They just can't in good conscience whack the Spyderhawk from the line up  Unless they might have a new Super Hawkbill in the pipeline. Maybe it's time to start another big Hawkbill thread

As I posted in the "2012 Disco List" thread, the Spyderhawk was a poor seller when it first came out in black FRN/VG-10, the blue FRN/VG-10 version went over like a lead balloon, and the yellow FRN/H-1 version obviously hasn't sold well. I really don't see them resurrecting it again in VG-10 or any other steel.
At some point, no matter how much we of the "afi" community like something, we have to accept that the general knife buying public does not share our enthusiasm and that we alone are not a sustainable market. The H-1 Spyderhawk, like the Superhawk, was a product of our requests. Neither sold well outside our community but at least the Spyderhawk had no R&D costs. I could be wrong but, IMHO, the only way we'll see the Spyderhawk again would be via a sponsored run, and that's a long shot at best.

I hear you loud and clear. It just so happens that the Spyderhawk SE and the 701s were on my wish list. Its sad to see those awesome products go away but I do have that warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing that I have them. :rolleyes:JD Spydo wrote:Hey Brother I could dig an H-1 Superhawk for sure>> But only if they would make it available in Spyderedge.
To me that was a crime not to make the original Superhawk available in SE
My advice to everyone here listening to the words on this thread is to immediately get both variants of the H-1 Spyderhawk and to also get a set of the 701 Profiles. this just ain't right because my knife world is truly coming unraveled at this point  :D
Well, I use my SE Spyderhawk almost every day to cut off the stems of vegetables (they range from about 0.5 to 1 inch in diameter). I haven't had the need to sharpen the knife yet (and hence have no opportunity to try out the effectiveness of the 701 Profiles). I find the curved blade suits the cylindrical shape of the the vegetable stems very well.
