mines a four sevens preon 1, and its hooked to my wallet at all times.

I always keep a 4sevens Quark Mini 123 R5 Edition on my keys.

I always have an iTP A3 EOS upgraded on me, Keep a Fenix L2D in my back pack and around the house I have a couple of Zebra lights. I use them quite often for a number of differnt things in a day. Plus those around me know that along with a knife I have a light so I'm kinda the go to guy for both.

It's really hard to beat a 4Sevens Preon1/2. They have a high CRI sprint now for you incan lovers :) .

I have a light with me nearly 24/7 (i dont carry one in the shower or whilst swimming)

I carry a Titanium Muyshondt Neutral Aeon on a neck lanyard
a Novatac EDC 120P in a belt holster (or a pocket if im just lounging around without a belt)
and a Surefire 9P - Bored for 18500 cells and Re-Anodized (a stunning looking dark green HA-3) with a Moddoo Neutral Triple and 2x AW 18500 cells

so i have a a long runtime/low output backup light (Aeon - 10lumens for 40 hrs or 100lumens for an hour and a half)
a every day light (Novatac - anything from 1lumen to 120) with reasonable runtime (30 mins on max, but it gets better quickly as you drop through the levels)


and a Big Bruiser - it only runs for an hour (1000 Lumens) and gets very hot, and it doesnt throw very far (50-100m is about it) but it floods the area with light

Carry a Streamlight Twin Task when walking Bear at night so that we can avoid things that need to be avoided and so I can clean up after him when necessary. Still thinking of getting something a bit more powerful, but everything I read about seems to be either super powerful or extremely complicated.

After the Maglite, the LD20's adjustments seemed a little fiddly, but once I understood the two bezel positions, it all fell into place.

I really think you should try one of the Nitecore EX/DX line. It is no more complicated than you want it to be.

If you would like me to send you two or three lights to try out, I would be more than willing to do that.

I regularly carry a 4Sevens Preon Revo 2 SS.

Its very useful for those mundane everyday tasks. One day it will save my life!

Fenix LD15 in my pocket, and a Fenix E01 on my keychain. I like them because of their small size, and because the AA and AAA batteries are easy to find. Flashlights are a necessity for the dark Alaskan winter.

I carry Novatac 120T for few years now. Just in case if I need it. It is small enough to fit into pocket and can produce a lot of power if you need it. Also I have surefire 6PL in a car.

I just bought another flashlight, this one is a Fenix E21, with only two outputs of brightness. The high is 150 lumens and the low is 48 lumens. It's just a twist of the head to go from one to the other, best part it's only $35.00 at Knifeworks.com.

I own a bunch more lights, but I like the idea of a simple two AA light. Hope this helps. :D

They don't have to be. These are simple; push the button for on/off. Twist the control ring for whatever brightness you want (just like the volume control on a stereo).

Both work best on rechargeable batteries, but alkalines are fine if you don't run them on max a lot.

I recently got interested in little flashlights. I'm amazed at how much light the little ones put out these days. I've used a mini-maglight for about 20 years and a couple years ago bought a 1 watt LED bulb and IQ switch giving it different brightnesses. Now I've gotten a Fenix LD01 (single AAA) and a Fenix E11 (single AA). My next purchase will be a Fenix LD40 but that's later. I carry the LD01 connected to a Ladybug salt or Kiwi (Kiwi at the moment) and have it all the time. I can walk my dog with that single AAA light and not even use the brightest setting. It's great. The E11 is nice too, simple and cheap. Only has two settings but I don't need the lights that will do 100 things. :) I wish it had a pocket clip though. Does anyone know where I can pick up just pocket clips? I also bought a cheap charger for AA and AAA batteries. I want to get a bigger better one later.

You might consider something from Peak LED like the Eiger (AAA) or Logan (CR123/RCR123/AA/14500/17500, etc):

They are USA made and very simple lights available in SS, Alum, Brass and Titanium. They are available in various carry configurations (short, keychain, momentary on button) and LED's (warm, cool, narrow and wide optics) but Bob over there could help dial it down for your needs.

The one I'm thinking of perhaps for you is the QTC model. It stands for, "Quantum Tunnelling Composite" which is basically a material that conducts current the more it's compressed. This doesn't give an "on/off" light but rather a twist from dim to full brightness with almost an infinite range of increments. The ones with momentary switches ramp up with thumb pressure.

As a general disclaimer I think they are designed mostly for lithium batteries with nipples. As mentioned someone like Bob knows the ins and outs. I've got one ordered for Christmas :) .

It adds a little size to the flashlight, but after you get used to it, you wouldn't have a flashlight without it. I live on a farm and have unwanted critters that appear in the barn when it's dark. Mr. Glock and an Insight with URD makes a great set to handle the situation.

I have found also that I use a flashlight every day multiple times. People who don't carry one will say "why, what do you use it for?" It's the same for people who don't carry a pocket knife and then start. Normally after they carry a knife for a while they wonder how they got along without one. Same for the pocket light IMO.

I got a cheap 100 lumen AA light for my wife on ebay. It is very bright and zooms in and out by sliding the head forward and back. It feels cheap and won't last for years but for $7 and free shipping it can't be beat. Also, my wife isn't worth much more than $7. :D Did I type that out loud??? :D I may be stupid (may be??? :) ) but I prefer the tools of better quality, durability and endurance.
