JNewell wrote:A footnote on that, too - it would have to be G10, not FRN, and the only "toxic green" G10 I know of on the market now is really not toxic green at all - it's more of a pea soup green. I would hope for either the light foliage green or the forest green used on the Stag Manix 2.
I'm not sure this is the color you're talking about, but this is the color I was thinking of, its not the "trademark" USN toxic green, more of a lighter lime green (though in the description its referred to as "toxic green G10), but I still like it better than a dark green.

That is a pretty cool green.

No, that looks a fair bit brighter than what I bought as "toxic green" G10. What I've got here is really more like pea soup green than lime green.

Are you suggesting Spyderco is not going to release a lime green FRN knife again like the Jester unless USN releases it?
I'm still waiting for Spyderco to come out with my lime green dragonfly.
No disrespect to you or USN, but I'd like to know if what you said is a fact or speculation. If USN has the corner or market now on lime green and Spyderco knives, well, that kinda sucks.

I'm still hoping for another carbon fiber sprint para 2. That CTS 204p sounds perfect.

I'm thinking this color looks like avocado green...but then, I
am in Califronia.
*Clarifying for those who live somewhere else, the inside of an avocado is lighter than the outside...* :D

I personally like the "British Racing Green" color - it may be reserved for ZDP blades, though. However, this green is darker, so that it shows dirt less. Plus, it is very classy.

I think the G10 used on the Stag Manix 2 was approximately "British Racing Green." For whatever that's worth. :D

Really? There was a Jester that wasn't associated or affiliated with the USN.

I'm guessing it will be more of that foliage green that seems to have gotten a mixed reaction.

True, but Lime Green just doesn't evoke the same macho image as Toxic Green, even if it looks the same. :p

Are you carrying a USN catcherman or are you just happy to see me? :P
Jokes about macho USN knives aside lighter colors tend to be more polarizing. If you build a knife in black, navy blue, forest green, etc some people will love it and the rest could probably learn to live with it because they want the steel. If you do up a knife in lets say lemon yellow some people will LOVE it and won't be able to live without it, but others will think its so revolting they won't buy it even if they love the steel. While I'm not thrilled with forest green, I'd buy that knife because I like the steel. Make sense?
Just as an actual example show me a S90V para2 for less than 200$ thats in stock somewhere? Can't find one? Not surprised. Now look at the gray para2 in CTS-20CP, which by all accounts is a slightly better steel. Those buggers are still all over the place, and while all the well priced ones are gone, the price gougers still have 'em. I'd bet in no small part its because the color was polarizing. That light gray was just too bright, if they'd done it in a shade of deep gunmetal I'd bet you'd have a lot harder time finding one available now.

True, but it also goes back to before the USN Endura. One of the things that comes through Sal's posts is a great deal of respect for "soft" property rights. How many people ascribe the "framelock" to Chris Reeves, or the linerlock to Michael Walker? Sal has even posted about respecting the "rights" of Strider to coyote brown. These aren't legal things, and they really show how deep good character runs at Spyderco.

I guess you're right, but I really liked/like foliage green. I've got a FG Para1 sitting here right now. :spyder:
