I recently chose a Sage1 over a Caly3. For me it came down to the lock type, I'm just not a fan of lockbacks, they're just not as "flickable" as a liner lock and not as easy to close one-handed. Although, I must admit the laminated steel construction on the Caly3 ZDP CF is most intriguing.

i have both, and my vote goes to the caly 3 cf. fit and finish wise, caly 3 cf is a step above the sage 1...maybe due to the fact that it is made in Japan instead of taiwan (where sage 1 is made). the cf on the caly 3 also feels more high quality.

ergo wise, both of them are super ergo. but if you have bigger hands, u might prefer the sage one.

Well guys, after many sleepless nights I finally decided on the Sage 1. For me the reasons were the following: textured cf, little bit bigger, flow through design, liner lock smooth opening, nicer lines, and finally - I've been dying to see what all the hype is over the Taiwanese made spydies. Also, as lame as it is to admit, I'm still a bit intimidated by zdp (my sharpening skills are not where I'd like them to be). Got it through CS. $97.15 shipped. Can't beat that deal. Should be here on Monday and I'll post up some thoughts.

I don't have either, but recently had a chance to hold a Caly 3 and it was all that I could do to keep from buying it. (I was buying a Para 2 for me and Dragonfly for my son, plus some shirts, so my billfold was getting stretched) It jumped up on my wishlist after that though.

If left with the facts, people usually make the right decisions. :) You will not be sorry.

I've got a Sage and it's a really nice knife. I am the opposite of you, though. I've been wanting a Moki-manufactured knife for a while now, but haven't been able to justify picking up yet another 3" folder. If I get one, it'll probably be the Moran fixed blade.
