Will definitely match up well to the rest of the Stretched gang !
The blue one is enjoyed here ;)
For more than a second or two Jano, I was dumbfounded for a good half hour. :)
JayTeeEmEm wrote:Nice one! Have you taken the clip off yet? If this means you're done with the Chapparral, I'll PM you my address ;)
Clip is now history. As for the Chaparral, sorry but I think I'll keep it as I'll be doing some traveling soon.
mark greenman wrote:Congrats deacon, that's an amazing knife, to say nothing of the amazing gesture behind it. Very cool!
Couldn't agree with you more Mark, on both counts.
cosmo7809 wrote:Wowza, that looks really nice!

I wonder how it would look with carbon fiber?

As usual, Sal kicks major *** and continues to impress!
Am sure some would like it better that way but I prefer it just the way it is. :D
bh49 wrote:Congrats Paul.
I hope this one will make to production and keep wood handle.
U believe that, if it makes it to production, it will.
ChrisR wrote:Amazing Paul ... how does it feel to have Spyderco making custom knives for you? ;)

That does look rather nice - I am not usually a fan of bolsters but I love the lines of the Stretch ... I just wish it was street-legal EDC here
Chris, I feel thrilled, honored, grateful, awestruck, and totally undeserving. :o
gunnut35 wrote:That is the perfect knife.
Oh yeah!
eloreno wrote:Funny, I thought Spyderco didn't ship to NY..... you must be the exception. :D
That is one sweet knife though.
Spyderco doesn't. Sal, on the other hand...
Donut wrote:I will take screw construction at the sacrifice of looks and the Persian Red G-10, also.

Nice looking knife.
Am sure there are those who'd agree, just as there are those suggesting the Navaja's bolsters would look better this way. As Sal has noted, nothing can possibly please everyone.
Chopping Broccoli wrote:Wow. That is a great looking knife. I would be all over that. Love that its VG-10 and not ZDP. Great choice!
Me too, I love VG-10.
Left Hand Path wrote:I certainly agree!

Very very nice! Looks like cocobolo? Enjoy!
I have since found out you are correct, it is cocobolo.
FLYBYU44 wrote:I've heard you talk about this as a dream knife for quite a while, never really thought it would be that nice personally. But you have proved me wrong :) Looks very nice with the natural wood and bolsters, just need to lose the clip now. Congrats..
Clip has been lost. And, to be honest, it looks even better than I thought it would.

Congrats on a great looking knife! This knife was among the concept models at the Amsterdam Meet, it had a cocobolo
Beat me to it.... yeah that wood appears to be an example of cocobolo. Depending on the finish that will darken significantly with age, and for anyone drolling over the idea of that making it to production be aware that cocobolo is one of the most varied woods I've ever worked: it ranges from bright orange, to tones of deep purple, to glowing stirred honey, to what is seen here. Its beautiful, but regardless of the color pieces arrive oxidized so you never know what you are going to get until you work it. Congratulations on a beautiful knife.

That makes sense because i've liked most cocobolo that i've seen and that looked different than what i remember seeing.

Oooh my goodness...what I would give for one of those...

I've been drooling over the concept ever since Mr. Blonde mentioned it. If this indicates it is going into production, that would be INCREDIBLE! Regular production, even better! This is one I've been dreaming of--ever since the CF version was canceled, I'd been yearning for a new high-end Stretch. Looks like my prayers were answered.

As you can tell by my username, I fancy knives with bolsters. Notice how it makes the knife look shorter and better proportioned.

Also it "classes it up" considerably. Takes the "tactical" look away and makes it look more like a gent's folder.

Would be nice if Spyderco could see way to bolster a few more of these for the masses! Congrats Paul.

Have to echo everyone else - a really cool gesture and a beautiful knife. Hope if makes it to production! I will definitely be down for one. As long as it keeps the pins. Screws don't belong in gentleman's knives. Bravo Sal!

Now that is a knife!

Happy for you, Deacon (as well as a little jealous; the Stretch is Spyderco's best bar none) You earned it, IMO.

Another great gesture by Sal and a fine knife. You are very lucky this year Paul.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)
