Jeff - The E2 HA is on it's way. This is your first, there will be more... I think the attraction of flashlights is the same as knives - Appreciation of a well made tool. Does the job it is supposed to do, does it well, and gives the owner a sense of pride. My buddies set of Snap-On's. The feeling of using my damascus Chew when the same same job could have been done with a Spydie knockoff. The Chew gets people interested in knives, 99.9% of the sheeple out there have never seen Damascus (usually they just freak when they ask the cost, but some STAY interested). Same way when you pull out the E2 - people are amazed how this little penlight puts out so much light!! Heck, we're going to use tools, we might as well use something you enjoy.

I just got the new G-2 as a backup for my Stinger, and am crazy about it! While not the smallest, it's amazeing for how small it is. RKBA!

Got it today.All I can say is WOW! The next purchase I make is going to be for a Surefire with pressure switch and mount to put on my Ruger 10/22.Assumeing they make them.

I wouldn't go anywhere without my surefire. The one I carry is the old model 9Z. I also have one on my AR-15 and my shotgun. They are the brightest little light you can find. They don't last long under extended use. Their intended use is to blind a attacker, the point being they can't fight or shoot what they can't see and it will indeed blind you. I've used the 9z almost daily over the past 5 years or so. The batteries will last forever without being used. But check them if you use it often, cause they will run down under extended use.

I own two Surefire lights, the older 6P and I just got an E1 Executive a few weeks ago. Yes they are expensive but they are the brightest flashlights made. The lithium batteries are not cheap either.

Me, I've always been a fan of Mag-Lites. Sturdy, reasonably (somewhat) priced, and tough as a Marine DI. Kind of reminds me of a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>!

However, I have yet to cut myself horribly with a Mag, but the day is coming...<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

In defense of Surefire tactical lights, I will start by saying a few things. I have been reading a few of the posts here and many have been concerned about the price, I wont mention any names but you know who you are. I have had the classic 6P model for several years, and the engineers are surefire are brilliant. You have taken the traditional 2-6 D cell mag light and have streamlined it into something you can hold on the palm of your hand with a momentary on off button. For an LEO this is priceless. Getting you of you car is faster, you dont have to hold a 4 lb flash light when your chasing a suspect, getting in and out of your car is easier, and reducing the wieght on your utility belt does wonders for you back.
For the average person these lights may be overkill, but I must reiderate that they are the best lights money can buy. A 60 dollar 6P light will kick out about 60 lumens, invest another 12 bucks and you can get twice the light from a P61 bulb. This is puts out probably 6-10Xs more focused white light then any 6 D cell light.
Its like arguing why pay 70 dollars for a spyderco when I can go to the knife show and spend 5 dollars on a cheap knock off. Make no mistake these lights are as effective for self defense as any edged tool. It gives you a chance to incapaciate and attacker or make someone think twice about confronting you. In addition they make great back up tools to whatever you carry for self defense. These are bar none the best lights that you can buy. I carry two of them, one in my car and one is mounted on my mountain bike for night time riding.
Then there are those who feel like LEDs work fine. I also have a streamlight stylus. This is about the size of a pencil, they are great lights and are not designed for tactical situations They are great for the reason that the batteries will last forever but the light is not powerful enough to illuminate large areas of darkness, but blue LEDs are good for disrupting ones night vision. I hope that his clears up some confusion about these small high powered spotlights, cause those who have used them know.

AMEN!Couldn't agree with you more on the Sure-Fire.

On the Blue LED though. I'm curious why you think blue would blow out you night vision? I've had to use blue several times when somebody dropped the ball and forgot to check if the map was red light readable. I've used blue and had no loss of night vision. I mean are you shining the LED (I use Photon IIs and Streamlights) right in the person's eyes. If so then I think any of the colors would kill the night vision. Up close those little buggers can be BRIGHT.

You hit the bulleye dead on with the blue light. I meant it as shining it directly into someones line of vision. Them suckers are bright, and blind just about anyone that looks at them. Have you gotten ahold of surefires 2002 catalog. =) cause those who know use surefire!

Nice to find another purveyor of fine lights. Haven't seen the '02 catalog but I'm sure they have some sweet stuff.

And as long as I'm looking for that mythical perfect <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>, I might as well look for the perfect Sure-Fire. A Sure-Fire with the night into day power of the Dominator, in a Centurion C2 body, with the battery staying power of a LED.

For the surefire 2002 catalog point your browser at www.pk-engineering.com and scroll down. you will find it there in pdf form. I absolutely love my e2e, it's like spydercos, you just can't get that performance anywhere else. Next on my list is an m2 or m3, but i need to get a spyderco mouse first. Of course once you get into this stuff you need to take a look at candlepowerforums.com and SF's own bbs, at 186thousand.com Be careful though, once you get into this stuff then it's more stuff you need to buy, more forums to check up on, and more products to wait for. It's fun though.

Hey Eclipse those all yours? I was happy with just one. I guess you if you can find a use for more then one <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> you can find a ise for more then one Sure-Fire.
