+1 for the 4Sevens lights. These guys really *get* it - they listen to their customers and build lights that are feature-rich, durable, and BRIGHT.
I've got half a dozen, but would recommend the Quark, Quark Mini, or Preon for small EDC lights.

Many great suggestions above.
I personally alternate between two flashlights, depending on where I'll be and what time of day.
If its daytime/early evening (work hours) I carry a titanium 4Sevens Preon 1 with clickie switch. They're around $50 for the light and the clickie. By default, Preon 1 is a twist-switch. There are two routes to get a clickie: By a Preon 1 and a separate clickie switch; or buy a Preon 2 and a Preon 1 body. The Preon is an AAA flashlight and is quite bright. It has three settings, low-med-high. And a few flashy stobe effects tucked away.
Preon
If its evening time, or I'll be out at the family's ranch, I carry some iteration of a HDS Systems Clicky. (This is the descendant of the Novatac metioned earlier, which is in turn a descendant of the HDS EDC.). Currently its a Click 120 ($100). Soon I'll be upgrading to the HDS Rotary (this has a clicky switch and a rotary dial to instantly adjust the brightness level. The Rotary is $200 and is 200 lumens max.)

I will eventually get a Preon, but most likely it will be for my girlfriend. She expressed interest in it when I mentioned it to her. That way I will have access to one should I need it :D For putting on/with my keys, I'd hate to ruin the smooth finish on a Preon. If anyone can let me know where I can get a BK135a on the second hand market that'd be great. I see it on Jetbeam's site for 65 shipped, and 70 and up at other places. Any info would be great, thanks guys!

Been using an LD10 since December...I can't think of anything bad to say about it! I have an LD20 as well, and the accessory kit with the diffuser, so it basically can double as a lantern. I give a hearty endorsement to both the lights (LD10 for EDC though).Neomik wrote:Fenix LD10 perfect for EDC!
Compact, strong, different light modes 1 single AA Battery!
It is what I use!
Also, if you don't want to spend $50 (although you get way more performance and features if you do), a great one that I've used for over a year is the Streamlight Stylus Pro (I'm sure someone already mentioned this one). This and the Streamlight MicroStream are great, affordable pen-style lights that are surprisingly bright (around 20 lumens) and the Stylus Pro has great battery life for 2 AAA's, and both carry great, like they're not there
Tip--for whatever light you choose, I strongly recommend trying Lithium batteries. They last wayy longer, and really enhance the performance of any small EDC light

Let's see...right now I have my Novatac 85T on the belt and the Lummi RAW Al 100/20 on the keychain in the pocket. ON the night stand is my Eagletac T10c, Quark 1AA Tac, Preon II, and Zipka headlamp...on the dresser next over is the Mag 2D, and the Lamda Revolution prototype 3D :D 700+ lumen beast. It's the only one running on primary cells now that I got my new LiFePO4 cr123 charger. Guilt free lumens! :D

Can I get more details on that? I've learned from the community that they are the ideal power source, but I'm not familiar with the science behind it and the pros/cons.The Mentaculous wrote: Tip--for whatever light you choose, I strongly recommend trying Lithium batteries. I did give those a look-see, but they didn't really appeal to me. Can't put my finger on why, just not my cup of tea. Thanks for the suggestion!jimnolimit wrote:i EDC an ITP A3 eos (upgraded). it's a good little light (im giving my best friend one as a gift).
