Yes it does, if it has a proper heat treat and sensible edge geometry, in my experience. Not that there is anything in the world wrong with ATS-34/154CM, far from it.

I think VG-10 is sort of like S30V. Properly handled, it's a really great choice, but it gets a lot less respect than it deserves.

Another thing to consider is Ed Schempp highly favors VG 10 in his models and when asked outright by Nutnfancy at the SHOT show said it was one of his favorite steels.

"Supersteel" or not you have to admit Ed is a steel snob to the likes of which most of us cannot even fathom. :p

Depends on how you use a knife, the geometry, and what you mean by "hold an edge". The way I use it, grind it, and define it (for EDC folders)...yes.
