Bummer. I preferred the burgundy micarta of the prototype from Amsterdam mini-meet. CF doesn't do much for me. I missed earlier releases so I'll get it anyway.

Shabaria is very special knife. There is tragic story of designer, which was told by Sal. Just in case if somebody, who missed it.

(The Spydercard was another of his designs).
We sent Royalties to his family for years.

I've wanted one of these for awhile. Seeing as the micarta is now cf I simply must have one. Guess I'll be putting myself on the preorder list with one of the dealers

Well, I now have one more unexpected knife on pre-order. I didn't even know this one was in the works! It's raining :spyder: s! :)

must have one. Looks to be the perfect dress knife to me. A bit more pricey than I would have liked but shouldn't be a dealbreaker. Wish it was in ZDP, then again my steel snobbery is in the beginning phase. VG-10 is awesomeness in itself. Sometimes we forget how spoiled we are

that story is amazing. i figured the spydercard was designed by sal or eric. was this model made before in any other material?

Just got my shipping notice from KC. My Shabaria should be here Thursday. :D
The story about Eduard Bradichansky definitely makes my Spydercard even more special, and I'm glad to finally be getting a Shabaria.

Aaand so I ordered one. Came yesterday. Very nice piece!!
Only one thing: disengaging the lock comes with a scraping sound. I'll disassemble it and see if there's grit or something in there. Actually opening it makes a little bit of noise too. Anybody have a similar experience?

Disassembly will void your warranty if there is a problem. My Shabaria doesn't make any unusual sounds. Maybe try a good cleaning, oiling and compressed air, and break-in before taking it apart.

Ok. It looks like the base of the blade (at pivot) is rubbing/scraping against the liner (locking section.) Not a huge deal, but this is a Sprint Run knife and I expected it to be smoother. Otherwise, visual fit and finish is outstanding of course.

Have you tried cleaning or lubing it? You could have a little grit that makes it seem poorly assembled.
My Massad Ayoob had the action of an old farm tool. Lube/air/and working the action and now it's butter smooth.

I like Ballistol for a situation like this because it can be purchased in a spray can with a tube (like WD-40) so you can spray it into the action.
