Looking forward to seeing some scaled Swick2s and sheaths.

I'm usually not much of one for serrated knives, but as I wait for mine to come, I can't help but think of how neat this would be in a serrated version.

It would be a neat evolution of the original SPOT design to have in plain and serrated versions.

Just put my order in. Looks like a great knife and at a great price. How are most people carrying these type of knives? Around the neck or belt?

What do you use to press/mold the Kydex from the exterior? How do you set the grommets?

I have a bench Arbor press with dies, and a few 600 lb clamps with molding foam.

Nice sheaths. Once I get my handle done, I'll be doing some Kydex myself.

I worked a little while on a set of 1/8" tan G-10 handles last night. They're roughed out and ready to start finishing, but it'll probably be the weekend until I can get them done.

It really changes the character a lot and I might have to do it to my other Swick as well. I generally just use my Swick 1 for little cutting around my shop, but with a pair of scales, I would probably start to really carry it.

Got mine today - had not exected it to be so small! Nice little knife

I received mine today as well! It is a great little knife! I opened the box with my Meerkat Sprint and noticed that it and the Swick have the same profile in the handle.

Now to find a neck sheath and a small-of-the-back sheath for it...

I missed your post the first time. I opened the box and had the same thoughts, though. I might work up some scales this weekend. Question for you - I'm going back and forth on this one in my own mind - did you do "full profile" scales (all the way out to the tang) or slightly reduced scales (say, maybe 1/8" smaller than the outside edge of the tang)? I'm thinking maybe reduced profiles to keep the slim feel of the Swick2? Not sure...

Looking for some specific help here. Just got my S2 and have been playing around with cord wrap. Its kind of an odd handle shape, so traditional cord wrap tutoriols dont help me. I even tried a wrap seen on the original Swick, but it looks like the scale hole near the end of the handle (not lanyard hole)really makes for a cord wrap obstacle. Now, I am really a rookie on this and have only done straight even handles. Anyone done a wrap on their Swick 2 yet? Show pics? If that fails, any good scale guys to recommend?

I only do full profile scales. I don't care for the feel of the reduced scales and it's a bit harder to get a perfect border when you're doing them by hand. I do put a large radius on the edges of my handles, so you still get a nice slim feel. I'll post pictures when I'm done.

My set is still in process. I didn't touch them at all last night. It was my wedding anniversary and I went out with the wife and kids. My son threw up at the restaurant (not the restaurant's fault), so it ended up being a very eventful evening. Hopefully tonight I can make some more progress.

Looking forward to seeing the finished scales on the Swick2.

I finally bought two, so there are twelve left now.

While my wife was in the morning sickness phase of pregnancy with my second son I took my number one son on an overnight excursion. After my five-year-old son was done throwing up all over everything in the middle of the night he gave me a troubled look and announced, "Dad, I'm pregnant."

Well, here's some proof of progress. I can't find my pipe cutter, so I can't do my threaded tubes for handle attachment quite yet. Thus, the temporary pins are still in their places. The pictures show either side and a shot of what I mean by a full radius on the handle edges. Takes some time sanding, but keeps it feeling thin. I'll get some better pictures when it's all done, but I like this enough that I'm going to do it to my Swick 1.

Nice - I was planning to use cutoff disks on a Dremel to cut the tubes - do you have a Dremel? :D I am also thinking of leaving the lanyard hole exposed with a quarter-circular cutout at the rear of the tang - definitely YMMV stuff. Thanks for the photos!

Great job! I love it.

I have a Dremel, but I don't entirely trust myself with it. On a knife with a finger ring, I don't have any use for a lanyard hole, but I understand if you want it. The cutouts always look pretty cool and are tougher to do right than most people give credit for.
