I am happy to note that one more person has joined our forum. I would welcome him with open hands. I am sorry to note that he cut his fingers twice while making the purchase. This goes on to show how sharp the G10 is. I hope that he will be careful in the future while using it.

Chiba wrote:Hello all,

I'm new here and wanted to share my experience with my recent Spyderco knife purchase. I was in the shop and narrowed my choice down to the Delica 4 FRN and the Delica 4 with G10 handle. I stood there opening and closing both of them weighing the differences. the G10 is heavier, double the price with a better feel to the handle and flat ground blade. The FRN was nice and light with a thicker hollow ground blade. An other thing I noticed was while the g10 had the same VG-10 Steel (made in Japan) it was most definitely sharper than the FRN variety.

I still couldn't decide until one of them bit me. I wasn't paying attention as I was closing the blade. I bled quite a bit and jokingly said to the clerk

"I'll bet this happens like once a day here"

He replied "nope"

He gave me some paper towel to catch some blood and 2 band aids.

That blade was so sharp that I barley felt it cut my thumb in 2 places. Just as if I were bit by a :spyder: :)

Embarrassed, I accepted this as a sign and bought the G10.

As you can see, it's a beautiful knife. Whenever I pick it up, I give it the respect it deserves..

Welcome Chiba. Nice blade. I got one of those this year and love it. By the way, hope you know that that is only the first of many Spydercos since there is no known anti venom  . Also, you don't actually have to let them bite you... :o .

My most recent spydie-bite acquired during a knife photo-shoot:

It was a puncture wound from the very sharp tip of my new Paramilitary 2 CF

So since this older (Feb 2010) thread has surfaced, how are you liking the knife Chiba?

Someone on this forum once said that "you don't truly own a knife until it bites you." I'm glad to see you found a new companion!

My new DFly2 bit me this week at the office. Wasn't watching carefully as I closed it. Nicked me on the right index finger. It was **** to type all week.

I know I'm a Spydiefanatic though. I carefully wiped the blood off the blade before I tended to my wound...
