I'm pretty sure he packed his bags and left the forum in dramatic fashion after the purple forum knife fiasco. Not sure if he came back after the dust settled.

No.
Few more Forum members sold Natives on e-bay and Forums for profit. So he is not alone.
I wouldn't buy a knife with this etching, but I would give Jess a chance to replace.

they should put a limit of one per person, maybe somekind of personal PM code so you can buy the one assigned to you, theyd still sell but everyone that wants one will get one

Pre-order system was working OK, everybody who wanted got it as many as they want. But you never will make everybody happy, somebody would complain anyway.
I am really appreciate Spyderco's efforts to make Forum knives.

If I remember correctly, the blue FRN blade-tech mouse was a special production made by Blade Tech for Spydie guys. This might explain the extching. The green one should NOT have any etch marks. You can contact blade tech to verify this.

But, I agree, the etching should be explicitly advertised.

Wild. That's etched? I'm surprised they'd go to the expense. Either way, should have been disclosed.

Done bidding on their items, although if I ever won one with what I usually bid on them, I would be getting a steal regardless of etching. Either way, that's messed up.

I bought a purple FRN mouse and the same thing happened. Ebay showed no etching, but the knife showed up with the shameless advertising on the blade.

I called and emailed about it. Finally got a call from a gal and she said the boss said to take some sandpaper and sand it off. No offer of a return or exchange. That was the last time I did business with them.

A blade etched with "spydieguys.com" is NOT a new knife from Spyderco. Unless it was clearly stated that the knife you'd receive would have this etching, it's clearly misrepresentation. Plain and simple. I'd give them a chance to respond and make it right, but I'd definitely get eBay involved as soon as possible.

Hopefully sooner rather than later, the general knife-buying population will catch up to what a growing majority of afi's are seeing and he'll eventually go away.

Flashy banners and "aw shucks" style YouTube clips do not a good seller make. (Nor even knowledgeable, for that matter.)

Yes this is why I emailed Spydie Guy many times and waited and waited for a reply until I left the feedback.

i think it's bizarre that a dealer would etch a blade with their name/web address and then sell it...wow

yeah his videos contain no information about the knife, he seems to know nothing. he just reads off the paper and adds one or two adjectives in its place.... and why its great and that you should buy it from him, etc, etc :(

I don't mean to be out of line, Roman but I seem to remember there were many people who did not get one. :o I apologize if I am wrong but I remember a big outrage / uproar over the issue.

i had to buy mine from a good, honest, freindly, fellow forum member... (THANX BUDDY)
instead of $67 i had to pay triple that almost. :( so jess can "promote" his business with his give away and sell them via ebay to the highest bidder. i doubt sal will limit one per person next year but im sure he will make some thing so everyone gets a fair shake this time before the ebay vultures swoop in :)
hopefully.

btw ebay has one listed nib right now for like $120 i think - if anyone is still looking/willing to pay...
