There's a shop in our local mall that stocks old Spyderco's...and by that, I mean they charge so much for any knife in the store they hardly sell anything. I think all they have is black FRN Spyderco's from 3-5 years ago at full MSRP (or more).

I'm tempted to bring them a calendar and 2009 Spyderco listing to remind them what year it is.

I think they sell the **** out of foam rubber nunchucks and Cold Steel push-daggers though.

Half moon outfitters is the only place around here I have found. The carry about 4 knives and charge exactly what the Spyderco website says.

Not only does that suck but there is a dry cleaner that sells benchmade knives. Too bad Im not a benchmade fan.

Nothing near me. I sure wish there was though so I could see some of these in person (of course that would probably just lead to me buying more of them...)

Well, good luck finding a knife shop period. What even happened to those.

Locally, there's the Sportsman’s Warehouse, an Asian store in the mall and Jax's Outdoors in a Fort Collins about 1.5 hrs north (end up there a couple of times a year). All of them have a great selection of Spydercos, old and new. Then there's a few hardware and sporting goods stores in the area that have a limited selection, but not too bad. Prices at all them are close to MSRP, but there is some variability.

Last, but not least .. there's SFO. Sorry about rubbing that in :)

It is funny that you say this. I went to the knife shop today after lunch. I live in the Dallas Fort Worth area and we have a knife shop in Fort worth that is less than 20 minutes away from me. They had just about everything in the current catalog, and a few old ones. They had the full line of FRN. Some old dragon flys, rock lobster, chokwe, phoenix, old Viele, carbon harpy, Manix P and CE, manix 2, two Paras, orange military as well as 5 others. I cant remember them all. They have 4 cases full. probably over 150 spydies, as well as every other brand you can think of. Even all the autos. First place I ever handled 10 different microtech blades at the same time.

This place is obviously not your normal knife shop. It is called the house of blades.
Cabelas has a few, and The last time I went into bass pro, the guy there told me that they pulled all of them off the shelf....????

Before I read this line, my first thought was "Someone who lives in Golden, CO is complaining about the availability of Spydercos?"

There is a Bass Pro about an hour north and another about 2.5 hours south. Their selection isn't great, nor are the prices. The closest (to me) really good knife store to my knowledge is in Foley, AL.

Good prices and very nice place to shop. Just two blocks up Broadway in Littleton is a razor repair shop that sells a larger selection but almost MSRP.

There is a pawnshop here in town that generally has a few. If you wait long enough, his prices become pretty good deals, but it does take a few years. I picked up a NIB PE Toad there for $40, and a PE G-10 Rookie for $45. Mostly he just keeps two or three in the case priced at MSRP or so.

Apart from that, it is either order online or drive 176 miles to Knives Plus in Amarillo, TX. It was worth it when gas was $1.79/gal. but at $2.65 and climbing...

I live less than an hour from Seki city, where many of them are made. I can drive up there once a year and find a very good selection, but the cutlery festival only lasts for two days...

Otherwise, I occasionally happen upon one in the back of a case in a fishing shop or something (old models). I did find a good knife shop in Kyoto, but they only had a few spydies. Remember, though, that it's not common to carry a knife here. :rolleyes:

Oh man I LOL at you guys... Down here in Melbourne, I can walk into an outdoor shop and say "Benchmade Spyderco Emerson Cold Steel CRKT" and get stared at weirdly.. But if I say "Buck" then some ancient 110 will appear out of a drawer and the wisened old man behind the counter will say "You're lucky, I just got this one in!"
The only time I have even seen Spydies here was last week. There was an Endura for $220 (AUD), a Delica for over a hundred, and a ladybug for $65.....

yay for the internets!

You must be talking about St. Nicks, that is the nicest shop around this area for selection, but the prices aren't that nice.

Thanks! I have never been to the store. There prices look great for a brick & mortar store (on par the Knife Center). I will need to take a trip after the snow breaks and after the SFO sale.

I am relatively new on this forum and have always been interested as to why I could never find stores that "stock" Spyderco. I asked one place I go to a lot and the response was that they don't sell enough of any brand to keep them in the store but they will order any model you want. The turn around is usually less than a week as long as they are not on backorder. That being said, in CT where I live, the Cabelas store in East Hartford stocks both Delica and Enduras in abundance. Also in the West Farms Mall in Farmington, the Victorinox store stocks ALL models. They also have a small supply of discontinued models. I recently picked up a NIB C95 Manix (my all time favorite BIG folder).

I have found in my area that the big chain sporting goods stores and even Walmart stopped stocking them for some reason.

Last time I was there about 3 years ago. They had huge selection of discontinued models, so I picked-up Lum Folding Tanto. Prices were quite high. I remember they had Volpe, which I just got at that time for more that twice as much than I paid shipped. It is about an hour drive.

I have to say there are two stores by me in Long Island,NY that have a decent selection of spyderco's. But they sell at MSRP or close to it. I want to buy from them because you can see the knives in hand. However, the temptation of buying online is hard to compete with especially when the prices are dramatically cheaper.

Perfect example is that you can buy a military for almost $100 cheaper online than the two retailers by me. I am willing to pay more for the hands on experience before buying, but a $100 more?

I spoke with the dealers about this and they say that the online stores sell them for much less than what they buy them for wholesale. I do not know if this is true, but it is unfortunate because spyderco's due to their design need to be held to truly be appreciated.

Some are quite high I will agree. I paid $165 for that Manix which is about what I paid for one a few years ago. Sadly I lost that one. Meaning it grew legs and walked out of my cruiser bag. I did buy a Native 3 from them that I paid around $70 for.

They still have those Lum Tantos and I think I remember the price of the Para they had was around $150.

Yes much higher than on-line but there are not many places around here that stock them to begin with.

Not much around here as I mentioned, but when I drive down to my parents for Thanksgiving and xmas I pass right by Smoky Mountain Knifeworks and New Graham will be a short side trip this year.

So far I've only seen ONE SS delica 4 at a gun shop which i purchased for $69.95 and of course the walmart carried native. Academy also carried a serrated salt I'm not sure which one but by the time I wanted a spydie they had stopped carrying them. Yes internet has killed the knife store. Knife Works is in Louisiana but it's like a 4-5 hr drive from where I live. I talked to Roger and most of their stuff is in a warehouse with a little in the actual shop. I need to check the local ace hardware store see if maybe they have any old spydies they wanna get rid of. I doubt it but it's worth a shot right?
