By the way, the other reason this is the perfect boating knife is ice breaker pommel so that you can break up the ice in order to get maximum contact with the beer bottles. It's always a good idea to fortify yourself with a beer or two before fighting off the giant squid.

It looks like a sheepsfoot scimitar with a serrated spine :)

Great design. I like the tip on the Bill Moran upswept a bit more but that's definitely a different knife!

It's specifically designed for military use right? The serrated spine could push it into the "dagger/dirk" classification? I would think it would be a great survival knife in H1 with that extra cutting section (Man vs Wild, etc).

Like many, I viewed the original "Warriors" from afar. Never able to actually touch, yet alone own one.

This is a very good thing.

I am also very happy to see a nylon sheath, I am glad the world is over the Kydex fixed blade sheath. Now don't get me wrong, in certain application (e.g. IWB) Kydex still rules. But for a conventional "battle blade" I prefer nylon... But as with all things YMMV.

Know that one has sold. :D

Forgive me for asking a silly question, but why do some people refer to it as a "Hobbit" Warrior? It's been a long time since I've seen Lord of the Rings and I can't recall Bilbo carrying something like that.

The Al Mar Warrior had, I believe, a 7 1/4" blade. Round Eye Knife an Tool, aka REKAT, made a smaller version with a, again rough guess, 5.5" blade that they called the Hobbit. Don't remember the reason for the Hobbit name, but it's not based on the weapons J.R.R. Tolkien's characters carried. Bilbo carried an Elven Dagger that was part of a Troll treasure hoard which he later named Sting after a fight with the spiders of Mirkwood. Yes I am a Lord of the Rings Geek.

One of the designers was nicknamed "the hobbit from ****".

This is one of the most exciting knives I have seen come out in a LONG time.
I have been wanting someone like Spyderco to make a copy of this knife but it looks like this will actually be an improvement over the Al Mar and Rekat designs. However this knife is a true MBC knife and was designed for a very narrowly defined purpose so it may not be a good all arounder. It is a fighting knife designed to be used in a reverse grip although I think it will be great in a forward grip as well. The serrations are designed to "trap" an opponent.

Knives designed from the ground up to be a primary weapon are actually quite rare nowadays. My primary MBC knife is a 100 year old WW1 trench knife and other than the serrations it has a lot in common with the Warrior.
Repros of bowies or other real fighting knives rarely have the balance and feel of the originals.

The Spyderco version looks like it will be lighter and faster in the hand than the beefy Al Mar and some real thought has gone into the handling.
I am thrilled it is going to be made for an Israeli hit team as those guys really know their close quarters combat. The sheath looks great as well for the larger warrior. The smaller Pocket Hobbit would be better off with a more concealable kydex or even leather sheath.

Was a little put off by the choice of H2 but I am coming around. The Spyderco version looks like it will be a bit better of an all around user but still 99% of even military users would be way better off with something like a Military folder. This is a weapon not a tool.

I've been looking for quit a while on the internet to buy a Al Mar Warrior.
And now you are showing us this, i like it and can tell you i can't wait until it's availlable.

I'm sorry, but that knife frightens me and it will frighten everyone around me. I love :spyder: for your utilitarian friendly designs. Even Spyderco’s names for their knives tend to lack terms that elicit death and mayhem. Take the Civilian. It could have easily been called the Slayer or some other silly name. I have a hard enough time explaining to family and co-workers that the 2-3 knives that I am carrying are tools and not weapons of mass destruction. The listing of this WARROIR in the Spyderco catalog is not going to help my case. I don’t see myself purchasing this one …. But, I'm it does look like a great design for the warriors in the crowd. We are a diverse group.
